Hi there! I have ulcerative colitis which I manage with probiotics. I started with Primal Defense but when I became pregnant with my second daughter I had to take way too many for it to be cost effective so I switched to Theralac (which is refrigerated) and have been on it ever since. I love it and it is very effective. Look it up at Theralac.com for more info. Good luck!

Primal Defense by Garden of Life, and Primal Defense Kids, has been the number 1 probiotic on the market (I believe it still is, but I haven't checked the list lately). Jordan Rubin, who healed himself from Crohn's disease using this special blend of many strains of healthy bacteria (and a traditional diet), is highly responsible for the awareness probiotics have received in the natural health circles for several years since the release of his books "Patient Heal Thyself" and "The Maker's Diet" (good reads, check them out).

These are not refrigerated, because they contain very hardy "primal" strains that can withstand a great variety of conditions; but most probiotics on the market which tend to be limited to the more common lactobacilli and bifida blends can't handle as much temperature range and so they are better off refrigerated. Primal Defense Ultra, which I have a bottle of and love, contains 12 different strains- "Saccharomyces boulardii" is a really good one- so basically, if your probiotic contains that one, it's probably pretty good. =)

Check out "Nourishing Traditions" cookbook for many recipes to make your own fermented foods which contain probiotics; "Wild Fermentation" is also good.

Good decision to pursue probiotics. They have a profound effect on our health.

Hi Nicole,
I am not sure if you are looking for a yogurt type product or not but I am using a product called Xango Juice. It is made from mangosteen fruit and other fruits but it is an awesome probiotic/ antioxident and has about 44 things it is good for. It tastes good and you only need to drink about 2-3 oz per day. I have about an ounce before each meal or sometimes just 2 oz at breakfast or before bed. Since I have been using this product I have noticed marked improvement in a variety of areas. Reduced inflammation, improved intestinal health, my blood pressure is normal after about 8 years of being elevated and I have had very little trouble with allergy/ sinus problems since I have been using it. I used to have to take claritin, sinulair, nasonex and sudafed all at once and this year I have only taken a claritin once in a great while. I do also sell this because it can be expensive but it is cheaper if you pay a 35.00 distributor's fee and then I have it shipped to my door monthly.
If you are interested to know more you can email me back or go to my webb site and check it out.

Hi Nicole -

I represent an Natural/Organic Wellness Company. They have an awesome product called Florify.

This product contains stomach-acid-resistant Lactobacillus acidophilus (which targets your small intestine) and Bifidobacterium lactis (which works in your colon). It also has a proprietary blend of FOS (fructooligosaccharides), calcium phosphate, and green tea extract. FOS encourages probiotic growth. Calcium phosphate helps with absorption and green tea extract is known to promote stomach health.

It’s estimated that to get the same level of probiotics in Florify from your diet, you’d have to eat at least 10 cups of yogurt. This product offers a quicker, easier way to care for your digestive system and get more nutrition out of your food and other dietary supplements.

We have been using it for my son to help balance out his diet, my sister loves it as she is lactose intolerant and it helps her to be able to enjoy more dairy products w/o the side effects.

The best part, the company lets you purchase risk free! If you dont like it for any reason you can return the empty bottle for a full refund. The line of naturally derived products are wonderful - everything for personal care, to pharmcuticals to household products (over 400+).

They stand behind their products 100% and are letting people receive $100 in free products to try and see the difference, that is how confident they are in their quality.

I would love to show you more about them. All these chemical free products have improved my families health naturally. Wholesale prices, better green products and risk free - great combination!

You can send me an email and I will email more information if you would like.

Hi Nicole,

We use Life 5 by Young Living. There are 5 superstrains in this probiotic and people can feel the difference. This company is amazing and offers therapeutic essential oils, even in their supplements.

Probiotics line the gut with beneficial bacteria most effectively at least 2 hours after eating before bed.

Available at S.-healingoils.com The site offers a lot about lifestyle, health, and wellness.

Blessings,
S.

I recommend Primal Defense too. I had severe stomach issues all my life, after reading Rubin's book about 4 years ago, I finally found relief.

For my kids I still use only Nature's Way Children's Acidophilous (sp?) Powder in their milk. They don't seem to have the same issues I did.

Metagenics makes Ultra Flora Plus DF capsules that are kept in the fridge. My kids (2 and 4 yrs) have no problem adding them to their yogurt or shakes. I'd recommend going online to find the best price, but make sure you find a company that will ship it with an ice pack.

I gave my very colicky (spelling?) a probiotic that was refrigerated (as you mentioned) for quite some time. I started it at around 3 mos of age trying to settle his little digestive system and I found it helped.

The name of it is FloraBaby - made by Renew Life. I got it at our local health food store.

Good luck.

Hi Nicole,

My Naturopath, who really only recommends the best supplements, suggested that me and my kids take a Probiotic.

She recommends Ultra Bifidus or Ultra Flora Plus by Metagenics. They are refrigerated powders.....

Congrats on choosing to use Probiotics - very beneficial to you and your children.

Nicole,

If it has to be in the fridge, chances are it will be dead by the time it hits your stomach let alone your bowels where it needs to be. I use the original product that was Primal Defense before there was a disagreement about the use of inferior ingredients. PD uses soil bacteria. We are not intended to eat soil. Many other bacteria are grown on fecal matter.

The one I personally use and recommend in my holistic nutritional counseling business is Inliven. It has all 13 strains of lactobaccillus bacteria and all essential amino acids that the body needs to repair itself. I've had success with it for the following: just about every bowel condition: candida, IBS, constipation, also depression, energy and all-round good health and better sleep. It's packed with superfoods.

S. Hoehner
view the Inliven under health products: www.goodskinforlife.com or email me and I will send you a few files to learn more about it and why it's different from the rest of probiotics (we tried dozens of them, including prescription ones before finding this one). It's also certified organic so no GMO foods.
