I am looking to start Weight Watchers and have some of the booklets. I was just wanting some input on what you eat how you usually seperate your points throughout the day and suggestions on your meal plans, etc. Thanks.

What can I do next?

I usually aimed for 4-5 points at meal time and then the remainder for snacks (I only had 21 points). It will vary depending on your points and any considerations like I have like hypoglycemia.

I highly recommend subscriptions to Weight Watchers and Cooking Light magazines. They are super for meal ideas and the meals are always excellent. Have yet to have a dud recipe from either magazine.

One of my biggest lessons was to add salads, fruits and veggies to meals whenever possible. They're extremely low in points (and I believe will have zero points under the plan coming out soon) and will help fill you up. Also, be sure you're choosing foods high in protein so you stay full longer.

Most of all, don't forget your splurge items. Have small amounts of your craving item when you have extra points. You'll stay on track much better if you do that than if you treat this like a diet.

Good luck! I lost 18 lbs. on WW and reached my goal weight just a couple months ago. It's a great program and I follow the principles now to maintain my weight.

WW is great! I love it. One thing that helped me was a website called - ezmeals.com. They have a plan that gives you meals with WW points. There meals are family friendly and the service is only like $12 or $13 for 3 months (you get a weekly meal plan with a grocery list). It definitely kept me from being bored. Once I felt like I had enough meals to choose from, I cancelled the service. I keep a book with the printed out recipes in it so I can make something from it when I want. Good luck!

My daugter and I followed WW when she wanted to lose the "baby fat" after my granddaughter was born. We bought a WW cookbook and picked out a weekly dinner menu from the cook book. Since it was just the two of us we made sure each receipe made 4 servings so we could each have dinner and lunch the next day!

Worked for us!

Hi - WW is coming out with a new plan on the 28th of this month - my leader hasn't leaked any of the new changes though. I do know it will still be based on points values, but she did say it would give members more flexibility. I can't wait to find out what the changes are! I usually try to keep my breakfasts and lunches to about 5 pts. each - because I am a type 2 diabetic, I find that I definitely need to incorporate snacks into my day, so generally have a 2pt. snack mid-morning and another one mid-afternoon. This leaves 7 pts. for dinner, which is usually enough. I find I am hungrier throughout the day, than I am at night. You just have to figure out what works for you. If you join WW, rather than doing it on your own, you have access to their website, which is full of great recipie ideas, as well as a points tracker and weight tracker. You can do WW online ONLY if you can't get to meetings. It costs about $5 a week that way. But for me, the meetings are the big motivator, and what keeps me "honest" from week to week. Whether you do it on your own, online, or join a meeting, I still think it's the best and most sensible plan out there. Good Luck!

As Margaret V. said, they are starting a new program soon. The United Kingdom started their new system last week and they call it ProPoints. I don't know much about it yet but they say on the blogs that fruits are now free! Even bananas. I have been on WW for about four weeks now and have lost eleven pounds so far. I try to keep my breakfast and lunch to 4-5 points and leave a little extra for dinner and maybe a snack. Right now I have 26 daily points to use. I also fill up on lots of salad and water. I do hope you join...you will be glad you did! Good Luck! :-)

Hi K.. I agree WW is the best plan out there. It teaches you how to eat everyday food that you have to prepare yourself. It takes some work in the beginning counting points and all but it gets easier. I eat a lot more chicken then I ever did but I prepare it in different ways. Also when I make meatloaf of burgers now I mix beef with pork or turkey. They have lite buns out that are only 1 pt. If you go to the meetings people share many of the things they have found in the stores that are good and low in points. I think the meetings are the BEST. That's the only way I stay on track. Good Luck
