My daughter has a huge problem with her bowel movements . She probably poops 15 times a day . Sometimes its alot sometimes it's barley anything . The poop is thick and sticks in between her butt checks . Some days she won't even let me look at her because the rash she gets is unbearable. I have an appointment to a gastro specialist but not for another 2 weeks. We been dealing with this problem for months . If anyone can help or had this problem if they know what it is please let me know. We are struggling and need some answers . Anything will help . We already tried eliminating certain foods it didn't help . She's been on probiotics as well and it does nothing .

Added** thank you everyone . My daughter is almost 4 years old. It's very strange because we been having this problem since November she was diagnosed with the flu so the doctor thought it was the flu it went away for a month . We had no problems what's so ever then January came and it hasn't stopped sometimes while I'm cleaning her up there she is still pooping it's like she dosent even know it's coming . She dosent feel anything . I'm doing everything I can to help her I've done a lot of search online for the rash but it always comes back after 2 days because she poops non stop . She hasn't ate anything different then before so I can't imagine it's food. I'm not sure but we are praying for the best.

What can I do next?

I would ask her pediatrician what you can do until you have the appointment with the specialist. I would also contact the GI doc and ask if you can get in sooner. Perhaps there is a cancellation list you could be put on.

welcome to mamapedia, G..

How old is your daughter?
What is her diet like?
Have you tried a liquid diet for her?
Was she sick and then this started?

For the next two weeks? I would keep a food log. And detail what happens after she consumes the food. Normal cycle for digestion are 12 to 24 hours - depending upon her body, etc.

I would also call and find out what prep the Gastroenterologist wants. Are they doing a colonoscopy that day? Will they need a stool sample? Can they fit her in any sooner?

I'm sorry your daughter is going through this.

G. has sent me a PM saying her daughter is 3 1/2 and has had a blood test and stool sample given, and it came up negative for parasites and bacteria.

Keep a log as Wild Woman suggests - everything she eats and drinks up until you go in, and the results of her BMs.
We've had to keep logs for our kids before. It will help pinpoint things for them to have this to look back over.

That sounds pretty miserable :( She must be very young?

The obvious things to look for are blood in stool, mucous, etc. They must have done a stool sample by now. Has that returned anything?

Once you see the gastro specialist, they will know what to test for. Must be very distressing, but you will have answers soon. Sorry it's been so long.

Paladin is a really good ointment. It's what my pediatrician recommended when my son had diarrhea for a few weeks. It made a huge difference, and it's OTC. If you can't find it, just ask the pharmacist.

You don't say how old your daughter is, but my son was about 18 months old and had "toddler diarrhea." His body was having trouble getting used to solid foods. I've been told that it's fairly common.

I'm glad you'll be taking her to see a specialist.
Hopefully they'll be able to figure out what is going on.
Maybe it's an allergy or a food intolerance or maybe it's IBS.
Once a gut gets irritated it can stay irritated for a very long time.

Maybe you can put her on a clear liquid diet for awhile to give her intestines a rest.
See what the doctor advises.
Jello, clear soup broth, Pedialyte, etc - we can go a long time without solid food as long as we stay well hydrated and keep the electrolytes balanced.
For the diaper rash - you can try a colloidal oatmeal bath - it's very soothing for the skin.
Air out her bottom as much as you can - maybe she can play on a towel in a dry bath tub for awhile - with supervision.
At diaper changes - slather on the butt paste as thickly as you can - you want her practically sliding out of her diapers - the barrier keeps the acidic poop from burning her skin.
You're probably already doing this but change diapers frequently - soon as you even think she's had a bowel movement or is wet - change it right away - she can't have any time to let that acid burn her.
To battle acidity you can also apply liquid antacid to her behind.
I hope she feels better soon.

Cannot stress enough a food log. Keep it for EVERYTHING your daughter eats or drinks AND her body's reaction to it - including urination and bowel movements. Bring it with you to the gastro appointment. Call and ask if they have a cancellation to get her in sooner. Ask if there is anything that you need to do prior to the appointment or bring any samples with you.

If she doesn't feel her bowel movements? it's totally possible that she has Encopresis. While encopresis typically happens after holding bowel movements for too long, she could have a bowel abnormality.

How old is your child? Is she potty trained?

Please start a food diary right now. Write down everything that she eats and drinks, how much and what time she eats it. Then keep a diary of her bowel movements - what they are like and how much. This will be valuable information for the gastro doctor.

You should talk to a GI doc right away. This could be something called aneorectal (or something like that) disturbance. If I remember right, some feces gets kind of stuck and sticky in a small spot inside the rectum and it causes sticky poo, bad rashes, and fecal incontinence. A high fiber diet and rectal irrigation is usually used (the irrigation will clean out the spot and the fiber keeps things moving). It is possible that during the flu, this spot started and now it isn't going to clear up without help. She could also have a small anomaly in her rectum that ended up kind of "showing up" when she got the flu.

You could start the high fiber/psyllium diet with water increase right away while you are waiting for the appt with the GI and see if there is some relief, but I think that getting medical attention will eventually be what clears this up.

I'm pulling all this from really old memories - our daughter was checked for this when she was little as she had some similar symptoms. Our issue was dairy related for the most part, but I do remember this being one of the things we were looking into.

Good luck!
