I agree on the kid tough ones...the pictures were horrible and while they were easy to download, they were grainy and distorted. And the batteries ran out so easily - not good for aspiring photographers.
So we are getting him another one. I decided on a Cannon b/c I use a Cannon myself, so I don't have to use 2 different camera programs. After much research and hours and hours at the Best Buy camera counter, my favorite is the Cannon Powershot 4 or 5 mpixels, only b/c they have a adjustable strap and are lightweight and around $120.
I looked into other point and shoot cameras by Olympus and Nikon and the quality just didn't seem as great on screen. Kodak has a great point and shoot and took great pics and seemed like it would be very simple to use for my kid, but it was waaaaay to expensive for a kid to responsible for....I think $250 or something like that.
