They mean a suit (the guys will be wearing a suit and tie). Pants or a skirt with a matching jacket, blouse or shell, and pumps for you.
Hi ladies, this is a 2 question request. I was just informed yesterday that I will be presenting at our big sales meeting next week. It is a 3 day event and they have given out a "dress code" for the week. Mostly is business casual but one night is "Business Dress". I have never attended this meeting before so I'm a little unsure of what to wear. I'm thinking for the casual, slacks and a blouse (duh) but for the "dress" portion, what the heck does that mean?? I dont want to be to fancy or look like, "wow, she didnt even try". So any suggestions for the rookie?? Where to go, what NOT to wear.

Slacks and a blouse should be fine, just add some heels, scarf, and blazer.
As a former image consultant, I can tell you definitively: business dress = suit.
Ann Taylor or Ann Taylor Loft are good.
It's worth the drive to go to the Brooks Brothers outlet store in Lakewood/Golden at the Colorado Mills Mall -- just off I-70 & Colfax. I've gotten some terrific pieces during their sales. They can also help you with business casual.
Good luck!
Business Dress is a suit. Think interview suit.
Business Casual is slacks with matching blouse and a blazer. Or a nicer dress.
Shop Ann Taylor or Banana Republic and the ladies there can get you fixed up. Both have really, really good sales if you catch them right.
This also depends on the industry too. Bankers are more formal (nice slacks/skirt and blazer) than IT companies (cotton chino's and a golf shirt with blazer) and non-profits tend to be more eclectic.
Well for a man bussiness dress would be a suit right? So get a suit, either pants or skirt ( knee length or longer) Maybe this is a good time to invest in a nice suit that fits well and is well made, I know thing's are tight now but this will go a long way for you. Nordstrom has a free personal shopper service, call them and make an appointment! And make sure this suit fits right! It is so worth it to get alterations if need be, nothing like clothing that doesn't fit right, ugh! Go for a conservative classic color and a stylish or even classic white well pressed shirt. And if you wear a skirt no pantyhose! A nice pair of pumps works well too, stick to classic colors. ( again, invest in a good pair, you don't have to get Manolo's but not cheapie's either). Does that help?
