Does anyone know of a GOOD and reasonably priced place for a burnt almond cake? I need to get one for my sister but need to make sure it's good because my sister makes cakes and will KNOW if it's not good! I've called Peter's bakery off of Alum Rock & White in SJ but a 1/2 sheet costs $57+tax. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Thank you all for your advise! I ended up buying a 1/4 sheet @ Dick's Bakery(since it was the most popular) for $31.25 and my sister LOVED it!! :) I will be going back for more! =)

Dick's Bakery in San Jose has long been known for their Burnt Almond cakes (the best item they produce). It's been awhile since I've purchased one, but recall they are reasonably priced.
I got mine at Nob Hill Foods for about $60 for my mom's 70th birthday party. It was Delicious!!!
I agree that Dick's Bakery has the best burnt almond cake! It's located in a small strip mall on the corner of Meridian and Hamilton, on the Hamilton side.

In San Jose Both Aki's Bakery on Meridian between San Carlos and 280 and Dick's Bakery on Meridian near Hamilton have great burnt almond cakes. don't know the prices but the cakes are legendary
i don't know their pricing, but Dicks Bakery on meridian @ hamilton is pretty good, you might try aki's bakery also on meridian, of course no bakery can replace wilson's (sadly closed their door's a coupla years back) burnt almond cake. if you find a good one let us know.

Dicks Bakery--Hamilton and Meridian -- tiny strip mall -- tight parking...but they also have a great coffee shop and Goodwill store in that little mall.
They do NOT take credit cards...cash or checks only!

Dick's Bakery in Campbell has the best Burnt Almond Cake. My husband goes out of his way to get their cake - you'll love it! They are a small bakery located at Hamilton Ave. and Meridian - in shopping center by Yogurt and Print shop. Good luck!

Hi H., Dicks Bakery in San Jose is famous for their burnt almond cake. They are located either on Meridian Ave or Lincoln Ave in San Jose. I always have someone else pick it up so not sure of the exact street.
Dick's Bakery located in San Jose/Willow Glen area. Not quite sure of the cross streets. Close to Meridian main post office. Very yummy. They offer both white and chocolate burnt almond cake...very reasonably priced.

Good luck. Peter's Bakery first came to mind as that is my mother's favorite, but I must say the last 2 times that we had it, it just wasn't as good as it used to be. Now that I know how much it cost I probably won't buy it again. I would hate to spend that much money and not like it. You can try Aki's( on meridian, I believe) or Piece of Cake (near Lawerence) Not sure if they have that, but I know their cakes are good. Good luck.
