Hi there,
Two night ago I ate some roasted potatoes right after I took them out the oven and it seems I got a burn on the roof of my mouth. I did not realize when it happened but the following morning when it may have gotten aggravated by the use of Halls lozenges as I've had a sore throat as well. All in all, it's 48 hrs later, it seems a little bit better than yesterday but it's still painful when I eat almost anything. Does any of you know of any remedies that will speed up the healing process? Thanks.

What can I do next?

Take a small teaspoon of granulated sugar and put it in your mouth- gently use your tongue to rub it into the roof of your mouth for a minute or so.

I don't know why this works, but it does. Though I must say I have always done this right after the burn, but it hopefully still helps a couple of days later. Good luck, that's the WORST feeling!

If you have fever, you need to go to the doctor.

Otherwise, gargle with warm salt water. Be gentle.

Yikes, I hate that feeling.

I know when you burn or scorch your tongue, placing a drop of vanilla extract will help. Not sure about the roof of your mouth.

I like most of the suggestions MegantheMom had, except for ice chips. NEVER apply ice directly to a burn. NEVER. The skin is already damaged and putting ice directly onto it will cause further damage. It's why you don't put an ice pack directly against your skin when icing a sore muscle or swelling. It can essentially give you frost bite.
