Bunk Beds That Can Also Be Separate Twin Beds

I'm looking to get my rambunctious twins a Bunk Bed. However, they aren't quite old enough for the Bunk Bed, but I don't want to buy beds now only to buy beds again in a couple of years, so I'm looking for bunk beds that can be separate twin beds until they are old enough for us to bunk them. Does anyone have a good recommendation for Bunk bed that can be converted to separate beds? Also, we need the twin over twin as I don't want fights over who gets the full size bed on the bottom, and I want to ultimately save some room in their bedroom. Thanks.

What can I do next?

These days most bunks have this option. Pottery Barn kids has them, and Costo sells some good knock offs as well. But i find that bunk beds are a great thing to buy on craiglist. Although, when a good set shows up, you have to act quickly, they go fast.

This place is BEHIND the Lowe's off Route 50. By Babies R Us.

There used to be a bunk bed store off Fair Lakes Shopping Center (by BJs warehouse)

We bought ours at Costco probably 8 years ago...they are solid wood and can be separated...

Ikea makes a sturdy set that can be separated or stacked. I can't recall the name of the model but they still carry it. We have had ours for 8 years - our two oldest used it until they got separate bedrooms and now our 9 & 10 year old share it. Still holding up really well...very sturdy and well-built, and a great price too.

I don't remember the brand that we had (Bassett maybe?) but they weren't hard to find, there were several stores that had convertible bunk beds when we shopped for them, the mattress stores and furniture stores too.

We got ours from Harlem furniture. It's good that you are having them separate til the kids are older. Bunk beds are great for boys. Mine loved them. And when we were done they went to my daughter's kids.

I bought a bunk bed from Bunk Bed King when my kids were too little to have them bunked. Since then they've been bunked, unbunked, and bunked again. They are solid wood and very sturdy.

My in-laws bought bunkbeds for our girls at Walmart of all places.
The bunkbed is sturdy, but we've only had it for 6 months so I don't know about longevity (but so far so good)!

My best friend from 7th grade all through high school and college lost her elementary school age son when his hand slipped off the top bunk and he fell off.

He wasn't "rambunctious" or playing or anything. She was right there and he simply slipped off and fell to his death.

Bunk beds are for much older kids. I understand your wanting to have them as twin beds so I appreciate that ideal. Just don't let them talk you in to stacking them too soon. They are not safe and they are dangerous.
