Ok here's my problem my daughter is 13 and in 7th grade. Last week on the bus another girl threw my daughters binder on the floor because my daughter wouldn't give her seat up to that girl. I called the school they reviewed the bus tape confirmed what happened but no punishment was handed out. Yesterday another young lady threw soy sauce on my daughters new shirt. I called the school they spoke to the young lady she confessed to what she did. The stain (after 3 washings did not come out) although it's just 2 small dots should I insist the parents pay for this shirt It was $35.00. The school still allows the girl to ride the bus. Also my daughter is a blue eyed naturally blond child, at school children of diff. colors call her Nazi, when I call the school they say they'll look into but again nothing is done. I'm sorrry but I feel that's just as bad as any other racists name which if I hear my children ever using I will smake them down. How come it's ok to call her names? But if the shoe was on the other foot she'd be in alot of trouble. Shouldn't the knife cut both ways?

What can I do next?

take it to the school board and maybe suggest legal action if not handled properly to the school and the parents. also check your schools policy against bullying, and start keeping a daily journal of what's going on. my daughter is having similar problems but thankfully the school is handeling it appropriately

Of course it should.
1. Send them a letter stating these three incidents, if you can name dates even better
2. Threaten to send that letter to the superintendent unless something is done IMMEDIATELY and all three attacks are addressed NOW.
3. Threaten to go to a lawyer and the news unless they stop it.
They will do it, before you even think about sending the letter to the superintendent.
Talk to your daughter, this must be very distressing for her, explain to her that even though nor you nor her can control what other people say or do regarding the bullying or the lack of school's attention, that she is valuable for who she is, and that she has every right to complain to the school. Have her complain every day, and every hour if necessary, and I guarantee you, they will not let this slip by anymore.
We have to stop bullying, one way or another, is up to us. Bullying is way more dangerous now than it used to be.
Good Luck!

I would definitely keep on the school to make sure that they do something about this. I find it hard to believe in this day and age that a school doesn't have a bullying policy! Crazy that they aren't taking it serious.

Perhaps you should throw the latest People magazine on the principal's desk. The front cover is of 3 young kids who committed suicide because of bullying.

I hope things turn around for your daughter.

Call the school repeatedly until an action is taken. You are being an advocate to your daughter as well as those children who may be too afraid to speak up for themselves if they are being bullied. The other posts are right - bullying - verbally, physically and even cyberbullying is a hot topic (finally). Make sure your daughter's email and social network accounts are protected as well.
Write letters to the newspapers and the schools so everything can be documented. Request copies of the tapes as futher documentation. Talk to the school bus driver and report him/her as well, because they, too, are responsible for everyone's well-being on that bus.
There are a lot of public speakers that are experts on this subject - maybe someone would be willing to speak at the school for free to help others realize what their bullying actions can do both short and long term.

Good luck - good for you and your daughter for speaking up. Don't let them get her down!!!!

Is there a parent at your school that is an attorney? I would approach them with this info. just to give them a heads up..

Is there a Police officer on your campus? File a report. Follow the chain of command. the Principal, the area Superintendent and the the Superintendent.. You could also go to your local police dept and see about filing a report..

Let them know that you are documenting everything and that a parent at school that is an attorney also has copies of all of this information.

Do not back down on this. EVERY child is supposed to be safe when they are in the schools care. If it is happening to your child it is happening to others..

Unfortunately MOST school administrations are really in the dark when it comes to handling bullying. If I were you I would pay a visit to the school's discipline administrators, and cover several things here -1) The fact that when something is done to your daughter on the bus and there is video documenting that -you DEMAND a punishment be handed out. Even if it's just detention -it starts a chain of documentation in case something escalates between her and that student.

I wouldn't demand payment for the shirt from that incident, but if there is video of it, I WOULD demand punishment for the student who did it.

2) In NO way should anyone be allowed to call your daughter a Nazi! I would find that term horribly offensive as well. The school should punish the person or people calling your daughter that in the same way they would any other student using a racial slur or derogatory name. You should demand the student's parents be contacted, and if you know who they are -call them yourself and ask if they know their child is calling another kid a Nazi.

Often schools have to be made to realize that it's going to get very uncomfortable for them if they don't take action. That can include a visit to your local news channel. Bullying is a HOT topic right now that all the news stations want to report on, so I would bring that up to the school administration as well. You might be surprised at how fast that commands some action.

DOCUMENT everything, times/dates/what was said/what happened.

MOST schools, have a "zero tolerance" policy on bullying. Bullying nowadays... can even result in the child committing suicide. It is a serious matter. AND... if your "blond" child is being called 'racists' remarks... then that falls into a "discrimination" category as well.... and it not tolerated and there are laws about that.

Take it to the school board.... write a letter, demand action, make a "cc" copy to the School Principal and the bus company etc.
Put things in WRITING.... and keep a copy for yourself as well.... DOCUMENTING everything.

This is "Bullying"...
