Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on planning a bridal shower. My SIL is getting married in June. She lives in Milwaukee and has asked me to plan her bridal shower. She has a guest list of 30 people. I'm trying to keep costs reasonable since my family and I also have to travel to her wedding in Florida. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks you so much for all the wonderful advice. I think the brunch idea is a great one and many of you suggested some tasty dishes that I will use. Your ideas were very helpful as always.

I would go with the brunch idea. Very easy and affordable. Almost everything can be made the day ahead so you aren't running around like a crazy woman the day of! Baked french toast is so easy and yummy, get a pre-cut spiral ham, how about a fritta or quiche and maybe mostaccioli or stuffed shells, fruit salad and maybe some mini muffins and then do a cake or for my shower I had a dessert table with cookies, cheesecake and lemon mousse inside phyllo shells.

My sister is getting married and I too am planning her family shower, she asked me to plan a friend shower also but I said that was just too much.

I have relatives coming to the shower so they asked if they could bring anything...I said of course. We served cold cut samdwiches...they brought salads, jellos, dips. I bought a cake from Costco..they are only like 15 bucks and they are huge!

If you can't ask people to bring food b/c you do not know them, how about brunch? I did brunch for my daughters 2nd b-day. It is pretty easy. I made a Denver egg bake and baked french toast. Fresh fruit, coffee cake, doughnut holes, juice and coffee.

Good luck! I am in the same boat you are!

Although I am a grandmother, I remember when I stood up for my best friend and hosted a shower. I was still living with my parents and planned the shower in their apartment. I made a huge pot of minestrone soup, a huge salad and great french bread. I made a cake for dessert and the 15 people ate on their laps. You can do it. Remember, it's not the food, it's the people. They'll all be happy to celebrate with you.
Another easy menu would be tuna melts on English muffins, with ambrosia salad and gourmet potato chips. Inexpensive fare, but very good if you have great cheddar cheese.

What type of things does she like? I have a lot of ideas, but could help more if I knew more about her. Modern, traditional, etc.

I a cute bridal shower game that I used for my sister-in-law's shower. I asked my brother 10 questions, like what is your favorite color? What is your favorite animal? What do you like to do in your spare time? etc... Then at the shower, I asked my sister in law the questions, but every time she got the answer incorrect, she had to chew a piece of gum. She had fun as we did watching! She ended up with 6 pieces in her mouth.
