Breastmilk Nutrient

I have a question that I sort of know the answer to. I am pumping breastmilk for my three month old daughter. My question is that my breastmilk's nutrient is as good as my diet right? I have a two year old too so I find it hard to sit down for a nutritious meal sometimes. I find myself eating on the run all the time but I try to eat healthy food as much as I can.

Thanks.

What can I do next?

Our pediatrician (an my own research) told me that our bodies will provide for our baby first. Your breastmilk is of very good quality for your baby. Sometimes, thought, it will take from our own bodies if we aren't eating properly. So, you actually need to worry less about your baby and more about your own health. Start eating better so that YOU have more energy! Good luck!

Your body - just like in pregnancy - will take every bit of nutrition and hydration it needs to give your fetus or breastfeeding child the best it can possibly give... but if you aren't eating well, try taking vitamins and liquid supplements when you can for your OWN health. Being hydrated is very important.

Even women who themselves are starving or have really poor diets can provide beneficial breastmilk. You don't need to eat 100% organic to have dietarily beneficial milk for your child. Now, if you eat nothing but chips and soda, you're going to feel poorly yourself. Try to eat healthy as much for you as for your child. Remember the calcium (on the go? Cheese sticks or gogurt is a great on the go snack - the yogurt can be frozen and will thaw later in the day). Your body will support your child. Other on the go snacks can be nuts and fruit. Make your own lunchables with lean meats, lowfat cheese and tasty crackers.

My sister said it so well. Baby is a parasite. Baby makes sure that baby gets what he/she needs. You get all the leftovers!

I asked my doctor about this, just to be sure, and she concerned. I had horrible morning sickness the entire pregnancy and just had a small number of foods that I could eat, mostly fruits and vegetables. My in-laws told me I was a horrible mom and that I needed to eat more meat (Which is ridiculous! Vegetarians have babies, too!)

Anyway, this applies to breastfeeding as well. Your body is designed to provide for your baby. You get the leftovers. Obviously you want to take care of yourself so that you can take care of your children, but try to relax and do the best you can.

Like everyone else said-- breasts are mother nature's miracle --they can take an American fast food meal OR an African refugee camp meal or anything in between and turn them into the perfect food for baby.

Granted the healthier you eat the healthier YOU will be, but the baby's fine!
