My son is 16 months, Still breastfeeding and eating.I had a c-section with him and a tubal ligation. My periods have been on and off I was told it is because I am breastfeeding. Period comes some months really heavy way earlier or later. Some months just light spotting for more than a week. For the last two months haven't gotten any heavy ones. July was light spotting. Aug light spotting for one week , then stopped , then started again. Pain in stomach mostly on the left side, back, legs etc This is scaring me. Has anyone experience something like this?
It's not due to breastfeeding, sounds like a tubal ligation issue. GO to your GYN and talk to her about side effects from the tubal - there are TONS of them if you decide to google it.
Well I never had a C-sec and all that. But I know with my 1st son, who was breastfed, that I didn't get my period till about a year after he was born. Then it came in full force, Then the next month nothing.
After my 2nd baby. I didn't get my period for about 7 months.
So ya breastfeeding really does effect your period.
It can be very irregular as long as you're breastfeeding. For some women, it doesn't come back at all till they stop. If you're feeling pain, I would definitely talk to your doctor to make sure there aren't complications from the tubal or anything like that.
I just got mine today for the first time...baby is almost 10 months old. Was hoping to go a little longer without it!
Well...all I can say is I have been having really wacky periods too and I am BFing a nearly 16 month old also.
Had one 3 day period-which was a first for me.
Last 2 have come a week early.
Had one where I could completely feel myself ovulating (awful pain in my side).
Forgive my stupidity, do you still ovulate after a tubal? I have never researched it as I wouldn't consider it for myself.
Some have been super heavy.
I think I even had spotting mid-cycle.
So to me you sound fairly normal. These have been the wackiest periods of my life! But I am not too concerned. ;)
I would imagine it is just your body still trying to work everything out, but if you think the pain is a complication or related to the tubal you should probably make a gyn. appt..
My period just recently returned at 18 months pp and I am still breastfeeding. It is more than likely from the nursing but I would take a pregnancy test just in case.

After having my 1st baby by C section, I got my period 4 weeks after the initial bleeding stopped. I was breastfeeding exclusively, so no break for me, but I didn't have the awful cramps that I normally had before having a baby.
After son number 2 was born, also by C section and tubal ligation, my periods are completely different. I also am exclusively breastfeeding, but my period came 4 weeks after the initial bleeding again.
I have terrible mood swings a week or so before my period. Every period I've had so far has been extremely heavy and the cramping is back.
It sounds like your symptoms are normal after having the tubal ligation, but I would recommend you check with your doctor anyway. If only for your peace of mind.
