I recieved two breastpumps that are about 10 years old from a couple of friends. I thought they were out of date so I bought a brand new Pump N'Style by Medela which was around $400. It worked great for about 10 mths and just recently started malfunctioning a little. So I started using the older pump which is also a Medela Pump N'Style and it works great. I used the Medela mini-electric breast pump and liked it. It was a little pricey, so you might want to try to find a used one. The only problem with this pump (and this might be true for other electric ones) is the noise - it is very loud.

I don't know how you feel about a used pump but I'm selling a good one. You can buy new attachments for it or steralize the existing ones. It's a Medela Double Deluxe brestpump. It is electric or it can run on batteries. It's in the box & like new because my son didn't like bottles. I works great & it was $139. when we bought it at Babies R Us. I would like to sell it for $50. It has everything including the 2 bottles & I have a package of storage bags (those aren't cheap either). Or if you decide to buy new I really like this Medela brand. They cost quite a bit new so let me know if you're interested in this one. My # is ###-###-####.

I loved my Medela Pump-in-Style too. I found that it is much cheaper to order one online than to go to Babies R Us or something. They won't give the pricing on the website, you have to call for some reason, but it's well worth the savings.

I have a Medela Style and Go, I beleive it is called. Any of the Medela electric pumps are great though.

I love my Medela pump... it is a double and it is so fast!
I pump every night before I got to bed (since our little one is finally sleeping through the night) and I am done in 5 minutes or less. Hand pumps just take too long...
I am sure any pump will work for you since you really only need it for the occasional means, but my pump is also pretty sleek so that I can travel with it and no one really knows what it is...

FYI- I too use playtex drop in and there is a convert kit that allows you to use the playtex system with this pump.

I had a Medela single electric that I HATED!! It was so loud and obnoxious. I was lucky enough to buy a double electric used from my neighbor, and boy what a difference. That being said, I would not have found it worth it to buy a new double electric for just the occasional bottle. Maybe you can find one used. You can buy a new pump kit - new hoses, bottles, phlanges, etc - and use an old pump without worrying about cross-contamination. There are usually several listed on Craig's list.

Well the one I have is a manual, but I LOVE it. It's the Avent Isis. I bought it at Target. Works much better than the stupid electric one I rented--that one gave me NO milk.

I have used the one from Medella with my two kids. I like it a lot! I think you might be able to get a used one in craigslist. You would just have to buy new tubes and "pumps". They sell them at their website.

Medela pump-in-style!! It's the best! Efficient, fast, easy to use, easy to clean - MUCH better than manual. And even though it's expensive, I totally feel like it was worth the money and have used it for 2 kids now and am hoping it will make it through a 3rd!

I'm not sure where you live but I used a Medela Pump in Style for both of my daughters and it works so great. The suction is adjustable and so is the speed. It's easy to use and clean and all that stuff that is so important. It's also transportable in a black diaper bag looking case. I have one brand new, still in the box that I was going to put on KSL to sell. They are normally about $250. I have this extra one and don't need it but would like to get something out of it so I'm selling it for only $100. Let me know if you'd like to buy it. It is a great pump.

Medela Pump In Style. It's the best. The hand pump didn't work at all for me.

I agree with the other women responding about the Medela pump. But if you want a cheaper option, some pediatrician offices rent the pumps. That is what I did and it cost a lot less than it would have to buy a new one. You can also rent them at the hospital.

I have a Medela Pump in Style that I used and worked well for me. (it's in storage right now) Pricey but worth it for the reliability.

I used a Medela Pump in Style it is a double electric pump. I got it at Target for about $150 (I think) It worked really well but it seemed like it wasn't as powerful as I needed it to be. I usually only got a few ounces when I pumped, It wasn't as effective as breastfeeding. I didn't pump all the time, but it did help when I was getting my milk supply up. I think I would have rather spent more money and got the higher quality Medela pump.

You have to be careful with breast pumps because many of the pumps on the marked are inefficient and can damage your breasts. I have the Medela Pump In Style and love it. It is expensive, but it is one of the very few that works well and won't cause damage. You can actually buy it at Target.

I love, love, love my medela pump and go. It had an attachment so you can use batteries, which works out awesome when you are stuch somewhere in the car on a vacation or something, also, it is adjustable speed, which is nice when you are engoreged. You can do both sides at the same time which is also nice because it only takes half the time to punp.

Have to say nothing beats the Medela double electric. It's not cheap, but it is effective and fast.

I loved the Medela Pump In Style when I was using it for my little girl. When I returned to work, I brought it along so I could pump since it was a double-pump. It's the absolute best.

I use the playtex embrace pump. It works with their drop in systems really well. I was planning on pumping alot since I had to go back to work so I wanted somthing really nice, like a Medela, but it was just too expensive. I settled on the embrace pump and was surprised! It has held up and is not uncomfortable. I find it easy to use and clean. Also it was $100-$150 cheaper then the Medela. If you can afford the Medela, go for it, I hear there is no equal, however is money is an issue or you will not be pumping enough to justify a $300-$400 pump then go with the embrace. Mine was $200 but that included a carriering bag and auto adapter for pumping on the go. My sister in law bought just the pump and it was $130-$150. Hope this helps!

I really like the Medela swing pump. It is a single pump and is great for the occasional pumping for extra milk for the occasional bottle. It is a single pump (vs a double) so it does take a bit longer to pump. I know a few people that have the Medela higher end pumps which they absolutely love, but they are pumping several times a day while working. These pumps are also more expensive.
You can get the Swing pump about anywhere (Target, Babies r Us, ect).

Before you pay full price chekc you medical insurance under the durable goods peice. Many times if you get your Doc to write you a script for the pump you can get it VERY cheap.I know with Blue Cross Blue Sheild and the Univeristy insurance it is $30.00 for a new Madella Pump in Style. I have been using my for 8 months now and love it. It is a double pump and makes pumping more managale.

If you aren't pumping all the time, and only pumping for occasional bottles and such, I really like the evenflo electric pump. It's definately not for pumping every feeding, but I LOVE it for this type of situation. I use it to pump for a bottle when I'm going to be gone, or when I'm engorged. It takes a plug, but it also takes 4 AA batteries so I can wander around my house pumping because it is so small.
Women complain that it's not a strong, fast motor, but it's because it is not an expensive pump...like one they need if they are pumping while at work or for every feeding! I love it for occasional pumping. It was the cheapest one I could find. It only works best when it is on the strongest setting. But this was great for me because my insurance did not cover a pump, and I could have rented one for $40 a month, but I BOUGHT this for $40 total, and it works great for my needs.

I'm currently using the Medela Pump-in-style as well, and it's a good one. In fact, it's about 7 years old and still runs like a champ! However, I'm borrowing from my sister who will need it back in a few months, and I think I'm going to try the Dr. Brown's electric pump. I have been using those bottles, and love them, and have heard nothing but good about the electric pump. The only drawback is that it's not a double-pump, but I very rarely ever use both at the same time anyway, so I don't think it will be too big of an issue.

Medela pump in style is a great pump but your going to pay alot for it. I also used a Playtex embrase (I think is what it was called) and it worked just as well and it was alot cheaper. I liked the Playtex cause I could pump straight into a bottle ( I used playtex drop ins for my son) then there was no cleaning bottle and all that mess when you when to pump. Good luck.

If you go to Babies R Us.com they have breast pumps there. The breast pump that I finally ended up using and loved is the Medella (sp) one. It is kind of expensive so it depends how much you want to spend if you only use it a little. If you are planning on having more kids I would totally buy it :)

I would call your local hospital and have them give you a name for a company close that rents them. I know with both of my kids through the hospital a company would rent them out, it was really cheap, like $35 for four months or something like that. They were the electric ones and worked great. Also you can pump and store your breast milk in the freezer since you don't need it that often too.
