Breast Pumps - Fort Greely,AK

I have a Lansinoh Double Breast Pump that is on it's last limb... I really like it, but i now need something better and more portable. I found the Medela Freestyle and really like the features but it is REALLY pricey. I dont mind paying that much IF i know it is a good product and wont break after a year of use.

My questions... Has anyone bought this pump? if so, what is your experiance and is it worth the money?

What can I do next?

the medela is GREAT!!! if you don't want to pay a bunch of money, get a used one from craigslist.... if you are worried about germs or whatever, you can get a new tube and attachments and still will pay less than a new one. a lot of moms never use them but have them on hand, so they are "new"....

I have a pump in style that is at least 10 years old (bought it used from someone) and used it through my two kids. It still works and if we were having another one, I wouldn't be selling it! WORTH every penny. I bought a different brand with my first one, and it broke within 1 month and then just quit working after 2 months. Thats when I bought the used Medela! Should have just done that from the start! Good luck.

I absolutely LOVE my Freestyle and previously had the Pump in Style. They are both awesome pumps, but I have to say, the hands free makes it go so much more quickly as you don't have to sit there holding the horns onto you. I bought mine at Babies R Us with a 20% off coupon and it does pay to shop around online as I've seen some variety in pricing. I also really love the Medela freezer bottles (they come in a 12pk and are 2.5 oz each). You can attach a nipple if you want to feed baby, or freeze them which makes a nice little tube of milk that you can pop into a bottle to thaw, fits right in. After I have 12 frozen, I run under a bit of warm water and pop into a freezer bag.

I used an Ameda pump with my 1st child that I rented. I'm now going to have #2 and expect to pump a lot. However, I could not afford to buy a new pump if I wanted too. So I did lots of research because I need larger sized breast shields. I found I could go with 2 companies that offer different sizes: Medela & Ameda. As I was searching I found that the FDA doesn't recommend sharing pumps unless they are hospital grade and meant for multiple users. However in searching the FDA site, I also found that Ameda has a closed loop system so the milk never enters the tubes or the machine. So, I felt confident purchasing an Ameda Purely Yours used from a mom on craigslist for $50, knowing that with my pumping tubes and accessories from #1, I don't have to worry about contamination. As to its longevity, only time will tell. However having paid well below retail for a new one, I'm not too worried. I paid the same amount that I paid to rent for 1 month. So if it works longer than 2 months, I saved on my investment. Also the same will work for you because your Lansinoh tubes should work on an Ameda.

I haven't tried the Freestyle but I hear it's one up on the Pump in Syle. I've used my Pump n Style for coming up on 7 years through (and currently) three children and it's still going strong. For me....SO worth it!

I have the Pump In Style and used it while I nursed my son for two years. I'm still using it now with my 2nd son, so it was worth the cost for me. I haven't had a problem with it ever.

I have a medela double electric and have used it for 12months with all 3 of my kids so it is 8 years old and still ticking. $295 is alot of money but look at it this way you pay $30 per week in formula and after you bought it that is is you are done.

YES! I have this pump and bought it from a friend. It's got to be at least 6 years old. I've used it heavily for 2 years.

I have the freestyle and I really like it. I rented a pump from the hospital and i like that it has similar features to the hospital ones, though it doesn't pump as strong. I like the fact that i don't have to be tethered to one room when I pump.

I have never used the freestyle, but I exclusively pumped for a year with the pump in style. Medela makes great pumps, and if you do run into problems, they have excellent customer service. Now that I have a toddler, I am considering switching to the freestlye so I can keep up with my toddler while pumping. They also have a 1 year warrenty and they do honor it.

Good luck!!

Hi have the freestyle and I loved it. I had to pump exclusively because my daughter couldn't/wouldn't latch well. I pumped milk for over a year with absoultely no problems with the machine. I was also a slow let down person so each of my pumping sessions lasted about 30min and I was doing it up to 6-8 times per day early on. I definitely recommend! Well worth the money.

I tried a different brand but eventually bit the bullet and bought the Medela. It's an excellent pump and even when the little membrane thingee ripped I was able to get another pretty quickly. I used it for a year, 1 or 2 times every work day with both of my kids - then my SIL used it for her baby, and then she gave it to her friend who used it for both of her kids. Each of them just bought their own tubes, funnel shaped attachment-thingees, etc. For all I know it's been passed on to another couple of moms. That was in the days before Craigs list (my kids are teen & tween aged now) but now I'd list it online and sell it locally when I was finished. The machine itself never comes in contact with the milk - only the tubes, funnel shped things, etc. Maybe you can find one on Craigslist?

I have the Medela Pump in Style and love it. It is easy to use, pretty quiet, and is very effective. I wish I had bought mine sooner than when I did, it is well worth the money.

I have the medela freestyle and I absoutly love it! I think it is worth the money. I have a eight week old right now and I use the pump everyday and I have not had a single problem with it.
This is actually the second time I have bought the pump, I have a four year old as well and used the pump with him but somehow lost it so when I got pregnant again it was one of the things I had to have.
I bought mine from albeebaby.com which was having a site sale for 20 percent off. I just went and checked and they are still having the sale Lol four months later.
You do have to call and order it over the phone from this place but they apply the 20 percent off when you order it.
