I used an Ameda pump with my 1st child that I rented. I'm now going to have #2 and expect to pump a lot. However, I could not afford to buy a new pump if I wanted too. So I did lots of research because I need larger sized breast shields. I found I could go with 2 companies that offer different sizes: Medela & Ameda. As I was searching I found that the FDA doesn't recommend sharing pumps unless they are hospital grade and meant for multiple users. However in searching the FDA site, I also found that Ameda has a closed loop system so the milk never enters the tubes or the machine. So, I felt confident purchasing an Ameda Purely Yours used from a mom on craigslist for $50, knowing that with my pumping tubes and accessories from #1, I don't have to worry about contamination. As to its longevity, only time will tell. However having paid well below retail for a new one, I'm not too worried. I paid the same amount that I paid to rent for 1 month. So if it works longer than 2 months, I saved on my investment. Also the same will work for you because your Lansinoh tubes should work on an Ameda.
