I agree...these pumps are designed as single user pumps. They also have a limited life span.

I was able to find a Medela Advanced Backpack for $260 w/free shipping and no tax when most stores sold it for near $300. You just have to do some searches using google/froogle. Good luck!

I just recently sold mine on Ebay. I bought it new there for about 2/3 the price that you can get it at stores like Babies R Us. There are also used ones there as well, depending on what you are comfortable with. You can also check on Craigslist (www.craigslist.org click on chicago, then type in a search for medela pump or something like that and see what comes up)

I have the one with the backpack along with extra containers, breastshields, cleaning bags, hoses. I just stopped pumping about a month ago and I used it for one year. Still in great condition. Let me know if you are interested along with your offer.

my bigest concern is that when a mother buys/ or borrows a used pump she will not know if the pump is not working as well as it should.

I have a nine month old boy and used my Medela Pump in Style for only about a month when I first went back to work. It works great. It's the shoulder bag kind (not the backpack. Very discreet. I have all the stuff that came with it, too, though I hear to be safe you're supposed to buy a new diaphragm and tubes with each child (whether it's your own or your using someone else's)--thos eparts are easy to buy and not that cheap, you can get them directly on-line (I bought some extra parts/bottles/adaptors when I was using mine). I woudl give you everythign that came with it and it's up to you what you use and what you replace--I even have adaptors I bought so that you can screw Avent bottles directly onto the pump and pump directly into those. It also comes with the insulated carrying bag, etc. Works great. I paid $300 for mine, would be willing to sell it to you for $150. I live in Lakeview.
