Hello,

My name is S.. I recently went to get my yearly paps test. As you all know they also give a breast exam. A lump was found. I was so shocked that I forgot to ask her a question. It may even be silly to ask but...

My right nipple is extremely tender and has been for quite some time. Does one have anything to do with another??????????

What can I do next?

Please call your doctor back and ask about this. It doesn't seem like something to ignore.

Hi S.. My doc also found a lump at my annual in March and it's so hard to think of the questions to ask in the moment. Call your doctor and ask every question you need to ask in order to take care of your physical and mental health. Your mind will run away with itself if you don't advocate and ask the questions. Call your doctor and get rechecked if you have any concerns that the tenderness and the lump might be related.

All the best.
K.

CALL your ob/gyn TODAY and ASK! If you haven't already, schedule a mammogram TODAY, see if you can get squeezed in immediately if at all possible. At the very least, it will give you peace of mind; it might also catch something early and enable early intervention. And start doing BSE (breast self exams) now and weekly, if not daily, to get familiar with your breast tissue and any changes. The exam that the ob/gyn gives is pretty cursory, most changes found by a manual exam are found by women themselves.
I will keep you in my prayers (Moms all, please pray!); please let us all know the result of your mammogram (if other moms aren't getting regular mammograms, your experience might push others to do so!)

any discharge from the nipple?

I actually had a mammagram they say right at the right time cause it showed a lump which wouldn't have been felt for some months. Turned out to be clogged milk duct (ductal papiloma)which was benign but they still had to remove it. It tends to happen to women in their 40's perimenapause.

Good luck

Call the doctors office and let them know of your concern. May be they can send you for a mamogram to see if there is anything going on. I know it is scary but it not the time not do something about it. It is the time to take care of yourself, you need to be there for your girls. Good Luck
