I would suggest a cheese omelette cut into small pieces or this recipe. It depends on the amount of teeth: http://weelicious.com/2010/04/06/banana-bites/ (without the syrup :)
hey mamas! so i have another one of my food questions hehe. My DD is currently drinking 4oz bottle (half formula half milk right now) and then about 45 min later she has breakfast. she doesn't seem so interested in a big breakfast and i'm guessing its cuz she's drinking the milk. so i just need some suggestions of food i can give her. and does anyone still feed their toddler the baby cereal? i tried some it with milk today and she hated it lol. and how much whole milk does your LO drink throughout the day? thanks in advance!! :)

My son started day care at one this is where he ate breakfast most, they gave him cheerios IN MILK! and he did great! plus about a quarter to half a banana and watered down orange or apple juice. Oh, and the serving of cereal including milk fit in a 5oz dixie cup with room to spare, so not too much. At home, until I realized that he was doing this, when I saw cereal I thought dry cereal and a banana until I dropped him off late and they served him breakfast, then I just watched for a few min in awe of my child and his cereal eating ablities. But anyways ... that is something she may or may not be ready for but do not rule it out ... I also like home made muffins where you substitute apple sauce for oil and shredded veggies(typical breakfast)... or wheat pancakes ... my son also loves frozen waffles, yes still frozen!! ... many great muffin and wheat pancake recepies out there on the internet, fresh fruit salads, fruit smoothies if they can drink from a dixie cup, thinned out of course,
Smoothie Recepie ... 1-2 cups Rice Milk (vanilla flavored is preferred), 1 cup frozen strawberries or mixed berries/fruit, 1 cup yougurt plain, 1/2 cup of ice ... blend until smooth and thinned out for the little one mmm you can even add fresh banana too! I will put the extra into the Ice Cube Trays and Freeze then take one out the night before and put it in a dixie cup (covered) so it's ready first thing in the am. My son LOVES Smoothie mornings still! I did not really give my son too much cow's milk maybe 8oz/day until closer to 16 months ...mostly rice milk ... loved it. Even now he does not drink much milk and he is 4.
I would probably try to feed food first and the bottle after. That way your baby gets used to eating regular food and not filling up on milk which, in the long run, can lead to a child to become malnourished. After breakfast offer the bottle (or in this case I would probably try switching to a sippy cup... maybe one with a soft spout at first)
Yes i fed my daughter the baby cereal until she was 2 i would mix it with baby food and give her a bottle of milk. But if you want a small breakfast idea my child always loved dry cereal like kix or cheerios and she would have her bottle of milk.
I would feed food first then give her a bottle. Cut up pieces of fruit, or applesauce. Cheerios, waffles, pancakes, toast, organic cereal bars are a good option otherwise the other kind have too much sugar. Yogurt is a breakfast regular at our house, sometimes I put a drinkable yogurt inside a sippy cup. Scrambled eggs are healthy too. I try to give one fruit, one startch, one dairy for breakfast.
whole-grain waffle (or homemade) spread with yogurt and served with fruit. My son L.O.V.E.S. this!
All three of mind did scrambled eggs, fruit, oatmeal, toast, cereal, a banana with almond butter (chopped up), banana bread, "popeyes" (a piece of bread with the middle cut out--I use a glass or cookie cuttter-put in coconut oil in a pan...crack an egg into the hole and cook on both sides like a pancake--yummy!), pancakes, etc, etc.
My son hates milk and will only drink like an ounce or two the whole day if I am lucky. For breakfast I serve him anything from boiled egg to infant oatmeal to bread, cheese, yogurt(he has it with every meal since he doesn't drink milk but loves yogurt)and some fruits.
Also my son weaned himself off the bottle at around 11 months and hates the sippy cup so he drinks only from a regular cup now. Though the thing is he doesn't know how to use the regular cup himself yet so I would have to feed him liquid.
My little one is 13 months and I have found that if he can feed himself he eats better. Try nutragrain bars or just something they can pick up with their fingers and eat. Then you can try instant cheese grits or oatmeal. I hope this helps. I always give him milk or juice in a cup at meal time. The only bottle of milk he may get is bed time or late afternoon if he is fussy. I would quit with formula all together and just go with whole milk.
I agree with Sue H. that your 1 year old can eat anything you do, once you've introduced enough foods to rule out any allergies. Just make sure that you cut foods small enough to avoid choking hazards.
My son's favorite breakfasts were diced fruit (bananas, strawberried, peeled apples), and whole wheat toast sliced into sticks. I also would give him pancakes and a little sausage, whole wheat waffles with cream cheese or jam, sweet potato pancakes, or yogurt, or scrambled egg. I tried to mix a dairy or protein and a whole grain, whole fruit or veggie into each meal.
Give her a variety of flavors, colors of REAL FOOD, and see what she likes!

The link above, is good information, from a good website, and about feeding solids to a baby.
all the best,
Susan
Try oatmeal or cheerios?
I would do breakfast first and then the milk.
At this age, I gave my son cream of wheat or oatmeal for breakfast. He would also eat tiny pieces of fruit and yogurt.
Good luck!
My daughter is 14 months. When she started eating solids, my ped recommended that I give her the food first and then offer the milk so she would start to get the majority of her calories from food. For breakfast, she gets infant cereal w/ breastmilk, 1/2 piece toast, 1/2 banana. I'll offer to nurse her after. Sometimes she takes it. Then around 10 or 10:30 she has an 8 oz bottle of cow's milk and maybe a snack (fruit, crackers, etc.) Then around 1 she has lunch (usually chicken, veggie, fruit and pasta/rice/potato). Around 4 another bottle of cow's milk and a snack and then dinner (same as lunch) around 6:30. And then nurse before bed at 8 pm.
as long as you've been cleared by the dr, you can feed your child anything you want! Dry cereal, toast, oatmeal, french toast, pancakes, yogurt, graham crackers, eggs.......the sky's the limit! Offer finger foods as often as possible to get your DD self-feeding.....that's the main goal at this age. Also start putting that milk in a cup.....it's time!
