i've always had very bad menstrual cramps (to the point where i couldn't stand or move. i'm not a sissy when it comes to pain, i'm covered in tattoos, so i would believe my pain tolerance is above average). i'm trying to time my contractions, but i thought they are only supposed last about a minute or 2. my cramp-like symptoms are LASTING for about 15 minutes straight (NOT THE AMOUNT OF TIME IN BETWEEN THE CRAMPS). my doctor told me to be on the lookout for period-like cramps.....so does this constitute as braxton hicks, or is it something totally different? by the way, i'm 38 weeks pregnant and i'm pretty sure i lost my mucus plug 1 week and 4 days ago
I agree, call your doctor! Period like cramps are a sign you're in labor. Braxton Hicks just feel like a tightening in your abdomen with little discomfort.

I lost my mucus plug, and that SAME day I went into contractions and labor.
My daughter was born 1 week early.
Braxton Hicks, personally, was not like menstrual cramps. And not for that long.
I believe, you are in labor.

if you haven't already had your baby, Call your DR!
or it could be really bad gas! that will feel like labor sometimes, but call the Dr and be sure, you don't want to have that baby at home without a plan! and if you are planning on having that baby at home than it is time to put that plan in motion, call your mid wife!
