I never had boys but my girlfriend told me she would put a few Cheerios cereal in the water and tell her sons to try to sink them. It gave them something to aim at and made it a fun lesson.
How do you get them to aim well?
When the stream starts, my boys often start peeing into the air, on the walls, on the toilet tank--pretty much anywhere except for in the bowl. I can't stand it anymore!

I would have your husband give them pointing lessons. With my boys I did say hold on to the damn thing, that is only funny when it is a garden hose and we are outside! Thankfully my kids appreciate my humor.....
If only I knew. I loved the day I could walk by my bathrooms and not smell pee!
We started with OJT. Point and aim. My sons didn't want to hold on and aim. They just wanted to stand there and let happen what would. My wife and I had them hold on so they could aim. Then afterwards, when they were taught. They had to practice and do the cleanup if they missed.
When they had to do the cleanup after missing, gave them the right incentive to aim.
Good luck to you and yours.
You don't mention how old they are. That problem has gotten better at our house since they started cleaning their own bathrooms (at least the toilets). Even at a young age you can give them a Lysol wipe and direct them to what needs to be wiped.

Yep that's what they do lol. It will get better
For a long time we only had one bathroom.
And sure enough, just when me or Hubby was using it, our son (freshly potty trained, he was 3 1/2) needed to pee.
I had him stand in the bathtub and aim for the drain.
It was easy enough to rinse down even if his aim wasn't perfect.
He used the bathtub for awhile till his aim was much better.
If he made a mess using the toilet he had to clean it up.
I'm not sure how young your sons are, but we had our son start cleaning the bathroom at 3 years old. He would spray the cleaner and then wipe it down (obviously supervised). That seemed to end the spray everywhere issue. Now, at 5 years old, cleaning the toilet and bathroom floor is part of his weekly chores.
Good Luck!

My son is 5 and is finally aiming well. It just takes time I guess. Also, I would often hand him a paper towel and ask him to clean off the seat if he insisted on peeing on it. That helped.
Make them clean it. Every single time they miss ,,,,make them clean it. Does wonders. Even if the do a horrible job and you have to go in after them. Make them do it for a while.
put a couple cheerios in the toilet and tell them to aim at them. how old are your boys? if they are over the age of say 3 them make them help to clean it up and if under 3 then tell them they have to sit to pee.
Buy them pee pee targets you can find these bullseyes at some Target stores, I always bought them at Babies R Us ...works great the boys love then its potty time and a game all in one!
