We just found out that we will be having a boy in August.....plenty of time you would think to name your child, except DH and I can't find a name we love. I really love the name Casyn, but hubby's name is Jason and I just can't do the rhymming names. Any suggestions are helpful!! Thanks:)

Thanks everyone, these are so helpful...keep them coming!! I should add my DD is Kayden ( I know super popular, so we wont be rhymming her name either, lol) Thanks again, Hopefully the hubby will like some of them:)

What can I do next?

I like Casyn, it's really cute. How about Carst/Karst?

If I had it my way I would have had a Coop, a Trip and a Wylie, hubby wasn't having it though ;)

Naming them is so HARD! I feel ya woman...big decision!

I love the name Casyn, I never heard it before. If I wasn't done having kids I would name my next child that. I have a boy named Aiden, and before I found out my last baby was a girl I had boy names picked out. I love the names Chance, Zacariah, Jackson, Dallas, and Roman.

I don't think the rhyming thing would be a big deal either...it's not like you will be using their names together all that often. My hubby is Nate, and we really love the name Kate. If you like Casyn enough, just use it. Or you could do something similar: Chase, Cash, Cameron, Carsen
Good luck!

as a mom of two boys and just as a mom in general I believe you are not naming a boy you are naming a Man- would you take a man named Casyn seriously? Boys need strong names that they can grow into men with
James, Anthony. Alexander, Gregory, Benjamin, John, Joshua.
Sorry I might be old school but I dont believe in naming your boy something "cute" He will be a man some day and trust me nobody takes a grown man named Tyson or Kaden or Zaden seriously.

I'm not going to give name ideas but rather suggestions for picking one out:

- search by your heritage (we wanted one that was linked to my husband's family name - Italian)
- find a meaning that's important to you and search for boys names that mean that in another language
- watch lots of movies and read good books, maybe one of the main characters names will mean something to you

This is how we helped narrow down ideas for our kids. Best wishes.

Oh yeah, and look on the social security administrations list. You can see names that people have used and how popular they are in your state.

I thought I was having a boy up until 2 months ago so I had a few names picked out. First off don't name your kid Aiden like everyone else in the united states. Just saying its cute but way to over used. I like Maks, Chase, Chad, Kellan, Keegan, Justin, Emmett, Jack, Brody, and Gage. Just to name a few, Hope this helps!

Who are the most meaningful people in your or your husband's lives? Our son is named after an influential friend (who passed away when hubby was in college) and an influential college professor that he's still in contact with. You may find the combo of names, or inspiration for the right names in the people who've helped shaped your lives :)

I don't see why your husband and son's names rhyming is a big deal. I think that's cute! People will think "Aw, how cute, Jason and Casyn!" And if they don't think that, so what! I don't think the rhyming issue is a reason not to name your son your favorite name. But since you asked, here are my favorite boy names: Brenden, Landen, Adrian, Preston, Leland, Tucker

I didnt think that I liked the rhyming thing either, but every name that I like starts with an A. I have unintentionally named both my girls with rhyming names.
Abby Ray and Austyn May. I just couldn't think of anything else.
The name Casyn is really nice, I would use it anyways. :)

There are 2 things that drive me nuts when parents name their kids:
Replacing regular vowels with "y", and giving a unique spelling to an otherwise "normal" name. Parents think doing this is original and cute, but to me it screams "I'm young and uneducated and don't care that my child will have to correct people on the spelling and pronunciation of his name for the rest of his life!"

Please do your son a favor and choose a name, even an unusual one, that can be spelled phonetically by most people. I'm not saying you have to name him John or Bob, but don't get too creative with it.

My son is named Griffin (not Gryffyn or Gryfn or Griffynne). We wanted something unique that would be appropriate through all his life stages, have a cool nickname (Griff) should he choose to use one, and would be easy to spell and remember. So far so good!

How open ended is your choice? In our family where we name for grandparents it helps narrow the field. Are you looking for a unique name or one that he won't have to spell every time he makes a phone call?
I bought the N.Y. Times for there all the babies names are listed on Sunday. Anything that was too common was eliminated.
Online you can find names listed by nationality. If you are ethnically related to Hungarians, Poles or Scottish People you can find an old fashioned but known name that will suit your son.

That's the point where I would go back to a few favorite books or movies, look up some favorite authors or musicians, favorite poems, etc. Make a list of any that catch your eye, make a list of any that mean something to you, and maybe pull up a few name meaning websites and search for names based on where they came from. (Our boys have Irish and Welsh names, one from a favorite metal musician, one from an Arthurian knight, one after an Irish saint.) I used to write every name that caught my eye at all on a scrap of paper with the meaning and origin on the back and we would just shuffle them around and play with them and see what ones we liked or what combinations sounded nice with our last name.

I hate (hated) trying to come up with names for my two boys. My husband and I went round and round especially with my second son...what it ultimately came down to, unintentionally, was a compromise. We both agreed that my husband's name should some how be incorporated in my 2nd son's name (Daniel). I loved the name Caleb and Caleb Daniel I thought sounded great... but my hubby didn't like the spelling, he wanted it spelled with a "K". I thought that was too feminine. I then told him I liked Nathan, and thought Nathan Daniel sounded just as good. He vetoed that too, so I threw out Nathaniel (I didn't really care for it at the time, but at least my husband's name was in there somewhat (definitely can't do a Nathaniel Daniel) and ironically it had the same number letters as my 1st son's name (Alexander).

I ended up doing something I said I would never do, we picked a middle name for my 2nd that has the exact same number letters as my first--So my boys have the same number of letters for each of their names, and they both have a 4 letter nickname (Alex & Nate).

Now I'm going crazy because I always said that if we happened to have a 3rd, and it was a boy, I'd have to carry the tradition. They AREN'T that many 9 letter boy names--and for the longest time I thought Christian would worked but realized the NN Chris has 5 not 4 letters. Now I'm just obessed with finding a 3rd name for a child who may never even exist!

I just wanted to share this story with you, to let you know that despite how hard it is to come up with a name. I think in all honesty when you share with your child (or family for the matter) "why" you chose their name, they will surely see the amount of love and thought that went into & will love it--even if its just as bizarre of a reason as why I chose my 2nd's name!

BTW my best friend named her 3rd son Kason--I love that name but prefer that spelling over "Casyn"--just my personal opinion!

Good luck and let us know what you choose. I agree what others its easier to use family names and meanings when one or the other can't agree! That was at least the case in our situation!

I'v always loved the name Paxton. It is a good strong name and you can nickname him Pax. I knew a little boy with this name and it suited him so well. Unfortunately hubby wouldn't agree to this name for our son when he was born, but when I look at him I think it would have fit him well. Good luck with your name search!

It really depends on you last name and what (if any) you have in the way of middle names.

In my family all males have the same middle name (it goes back several generations so I was NOT going to be the one the break that) -- So my 3 sons, Travis, Robert, and Parker all have the middle name Anthony.

Just so you dont feel like the only one having trouble...Parker was about 24 hrs old before he had a name. Hubby and I just could NOT agree on a name! Finally my mom suggested Parker and we both said "thats not bad" so we went with it!!

Sorry, I don't care for Casyn.
To me it reminds me of "Casein." Which is a main protein found in milk.
But that is pronounced "cayseen."
And some people pronounce it as 'caysin'

My hubby and I both (separtely) went through a baby name book and wrote down a list of names we liked. We then swapped lists and vetoed the ones on the other's list we didn't like. When we were done, we had 5 names we liked and we ran them through our daughter (2.5) for her reaction. She liked one of them and that is her little brother's name. Worked out great and kept us from squabbles about names.

Prior to doing this, we were getting frustrated with the naming process, too. This definitely helped eleviate any arguments since we came down to 5 names we both liked. I also love that my dd had a hand in the naming process, too.

This is what I did with my last one. First I went through and made a list of all the names I like then took out ones that I already knew someone with the name and it left us with two William and Brandon and I let him choose. My first son since we couldnt agree we each took 5 names we liked placed them in a hat and drew the name. My middle child his dad left while I was pregnant so it was 100% my call :) Some people will give their boys the mothers maiden name as the first name.

Without knowing what kind of names you like, we can only give you our personal opinions. I don't like "made-up" names, names that end in -den, nothing named for someone from a reality tv show or an ugly city. I like Edward, Henry, James, Richard, Roman, William (Will), Wesley, Alexander, Julian, Christian, Kyle and Grant.

Hi L., have you guys thought of having your son carry his father's name? My son is not a Jr. he's the second and that's what is on his birth certificate, and he is most proud to carry his father's name. But here are boy names I like.
nothing personal but the name Casyn sounds like you guys made it up. I made a name for my daughter and no one like it so I didn't use it.
1. mason
2. Victor
3. Andrew
4, I love the name Chandler
5. Isaiah

You'll find one you love. J.
