Is she formula fed? If so, that sounds about right. Usually (but not always) breastfed baby poop looks a little like yellow-brown cottage cheese!
my daughter is 3 weeks old and only has a bowel movement once a day. Its always like dark green and like pastey looking. Is this normal im a new mom so i have no clue.

If she's formula fed, it's the iron in the formula that gives it the green color. Breast fed stools will look a lot like Dijon mustard. The scoop on poop is it's going to have a lot of color changes as she grows and you introduce new foods. When she's old enough for mashed carrots - bright orange poop. Peas/spinach - varying shades of green poop. Blueberries or mashed beets - purple poop. Oh, the surprises you'll find in the diapers over the next few years! Welcome to Motherhood!
Additional Comment:
Adult poop is usually brown because we produce bile. The bile interacts with the food during the digestion process and turns it brown. A condition of white poop in an adult can mean you are having gall bladder problems (your bile is blocked) or liver problems (your not producing bile). It's different in an infant and lots of different colors are to be expected.
yes it is very normal, it will change again too! lol i know it's like wow look at all this stuff their little bodies do. but as her diet changes so will her bowels. ohh wait till she gets her first big dose of food coloring you going to be like " WHAT THE........!!! Good luck. and ask away on this site!
Breast babies on multivit with iron can also have greenish poop since iron causes green poop.
It's very normal. Soon, it will be yellow and somewhat runny and look like it has sesame seeds in it. Baby poop changes alot.
Baby's poo can come in a variety of colors! The colors you need to be concerned about are black and white and red. Black can indicate an internal bleed. White.... There is a deficincy.... Can't remember what it is. Bright red is often associated with an anal fissure because baby is straining too much.
Green, yellow, tan, .... It's all normal.
By this time, the bm's should be yellowish/greenish. My daughter had a bm that was dark green and different from her other bm's. I was a bit concerned because the color was so radically different from her others so I contacted the pediatrician and she said it sounded like a little diarrhea. I looked back on what I had eaten the past day and I had a spicy curry that might have contributed to it. Just be sure that you're being careful about what you're eating right now since she's eating what you are and her little digestion system can't handle all the crazy spices that yours can.
the other Mom's may correct me, but I do believe the only way to get brown stools is by eating meat making a green stool normal for your little vegetarian.
It doesn't sound unusual to me. I've had 4 kids. Stools can vary somewhat at this age in frequency and color. At this age the stools will be softer. If she is going at least once a day that's not too bad. It'll be different if you are breastfeeding or bottlefeeding too. If you are worried that she isn't going enough I would ask the doctor at your next visit, or sooner if your daughter seems uncomfortable.
You don't say if you breast or formula-feed. I know with Breastmilk, there's so little waste because it's so digestable that the poop is yellow or green and a mustard texture or a little thicker. I don't know anything about formula poop. As long as it's not coming out in hard little balls, I don't think it's anything to worry about.
it will help if you tell us if you are nursing or not bc nursing poo is diff. from formula poo. thanks! xo
