Hello! My 4 yr old daughter starts school soon and we need to buy an extra booster seat so my husband can take her to school on some days. I was wondering what kind did you get and what you liked about it? I prefer something with the back and my husband said he wants the one that is backless. My daughter is tall and she is barely 40 lbs.
Thank you!

So What Happened?

Thank you all! I went out and bought the Graco turbo backless for my husbands car. She of course saw the new pink one with the back and I had to tell her no cause her daddy wanted something small and can be put in the trunk when he is driving clients to lunch. She wasn't to happy because it wasn't pink. I am sure there is something we can do for that. Thank you all again all your advice was very helpful.

We just purchased the Graco Turbo Booster (backless, Target , Walmart, Babies R Us) for our cars and the grandparents. Our daughter really likes it. It is the highest rated backless seat on www.consumerreports.org
You might be able to view the report without a membership. Go to the site and search on booster seats. Good luck.

I'd purchased an Eddie Bauer one that is good up to 80+ lbs...and it can be used as a regular car seat, etc... but lastly as a shoulder strap placing booster seat and we've had no problems whatsoever and have been quite pleased.... I have friends that like the backless ones but as we still go on road trips and he falls asleep... so it's just a matter of opinion

Hi E.
Toy R US will let you take the seats out to the car and try them- I'd do that and see which one fits the best. I have 4 kids and have used both kinds of seats- depending on the child. They have pros and cons. If it is just going to and from school I would tend to recommend the backless booster. It is easier for kids to get themselves in and out of.

We use the Evenflo Deluxe Booster seat for my 3 year old,and she loves it! It has a back and can convert to a no-back seat. It even has two activity lights for reading, etc. in the dark...which my daughter loves! The arms move so it is easy for her to get in and out by herself. It has a great pillow that is detachable and is very comfy! It holds up to 100 pounds! Here is the link to it at Target:

The one without a back will last you longer. Very soon she will not want the kind with the back because it's baby-like. She can use the backless one until she's tall enough for the seat belt to fit properly. It's not any less safe and doesn't seem to take up as much space in the car.

My husband and I have the Graco TurboBooster Sport Convertible Car Seat that you can buy at Target for about 49.99. It has a back, but can be easily taken off for anyones preference...The kids love it (5 and 4) and my boy who is 5 is long, but only weighs 40 lbs, and its perfect for him..

Hope this helps.
