Hello all! I am looking for a booster seat that is inexpensive to keep in Grandpa's car. I would love to have one that can easily be taken in and out. My son is 4, but small (only 35 pounds.) Any suggestions? Thanks!

We use the Graco Highback booster it works well and is comfortable.

We went for the Britax Parkway w/ a high back for our cheapie (this one goes in my husband's truck; our daughter doesn't ride there much) and it's super light, easy to install and has a systerm that keeps the child from sliding down and off the seat. The Britax Frontier goes in our van that we use all the time and it's a 5 pt. harness and we absolutely love it.

Whatever you do, get the high back, not the no back. Much safer.

According to Michigan law - at 35 lbs he should still be in a regular car seat, not a booster.....it says "4 years and 40 lbs."

it is recommended that you keep your child in a 5 point harness seat as long as possible! they sell ones that hold up to 80 lbs now but they are very expensive. if his shoulders are past the tallest belt holes he no longer fits in a regular 40 lb 5 point harness seat. if you move him to a regular booster seat, you can find good quality ones at walmart for about $15. but i would honestly suggest paying a little bit more if you have to to keep him in a 5 point harness seat. hope this helps!

go to www.carseat.org to get familiar with the laws in Michigan specifically. If he is heavy enough for a booster, it most likely should be a high backed booster that positions the seatbelt--not just the small base seat type.

Children should not move to a booster until they are at least 40 lbs. Their little bodies are just too fragile and the seat belt alone may not hold them in place. If you must use a booster occasionally in Grandpa's car use a high back booster. They help position the seat belt across the chest and not the neck.
