Hello
My daughter and I enjoy spending time together and she enjoys me reading to her.
She also enjoys reading to me.
I would love to start reading a book For my special series to my daughter every day.
What are some your favorite book series that you recommend for children?
She loves to read and I love to read to her. I really want to nourish and cherish that with her.
I would love to hear any other suggestions on series that you may have
When my daughter was that age, we enjoyed reading the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series. The Little House books were a hit, too. She loved Bruce Coville's Magic Shop books, and Roald Dahl was also a big favorite (The BFG, The Witches, Matilda, James and the Giant Peach). And Beverly Cleary's Ramona books are great for her age group.

I love reading to my kids - they're 11 and 9 and terrific readers - my daughter started reading words at 2 and books at 3, but I still read to her just about every night. Little House books are still a favorite, as was Anne of Green Gables.

The Wizard of Oz books! There are 12 or 13 all together. I am almost through reading the series to my almost 6 year old and we have really enjoyed them! You can get the whole series as an eBook for $2. It's about 1300 pages all together.
We have also read Bunnicula, The Mouse and the Motorcycle, Roald Dahl (The Witches, James and the Giant Peach, The BFG), and I think we will start the How to Train Your Dragon series next.

They aren't a series, but nonetheless, GREAT books such as ones by Sharon Creech are so good, in particular, Walk Two Moons, Ruby Holler and Chasing Red Bird..
Also, Where the Red Fern Grows , The Cricket in Times Square, Spirit Bear, Hatchet, The Witch of Blackbird Pond and The Island of the Blue Dolphins.. ALL such GREAT books!! Should also note, Treasure Island and the Jungle Book..

I really like The Magic Treehouse when I read it last year. But, I also LOVED the Little House series, and actually, I still do. When she is a little older I have to second the Anne of Green Gables series. Beverly Clearly is a super great idea for this age, and so wonderful to read. I think this is a great idea!

Danny Dunn - We just read Danny Dunn and the fossil cave last week and Danny Dunn, Scientific Detective this week. I read them when I was little. They are fun, well written, use real vocabulary and have three protagonists - Danny, a boy who loves science and is being raised by a single mom and the man she is a housekeeper for (he is a scientist), Joe - a boy who loves poetry and Irene, a girl who loves science (her dad is an astronomer).
My son is loving the Puppy Place books right now - I find them a bit sappy.
DS likes the Magic Treehouse books - but they are truly formulaic. They have both a strong girl and boy protagonist.

My 6 year old daughter and I just finished reading the Little House series and loved it. Even visited the Little Town site in South Dakota this summer. We have also read a couple of the American Girl series, Mercy Watson series, and have read some of the Junie B. Jones series, and just started the Magic Tree House series. I'm hoping to also read the Betsy and Tacy series and the Ramona series with her. My daughter also likes the Bink and Golly series (although I'm not a big fan of them.) I also like the Ivy and Bean series.

My 7 year old daughter and I are currently loving The American Girl "Julie" series together. It is a wonderful introduction to the history of the 70's, which is practically ancient history to my kids, lol. It gets us talking about how different things were when I was growing up, and also how some things that haven't changed much at all. I think we will be exploring the Molly series next which takes place during the time grandma grew up. Like you, I enjoy having a series that I read to her. The school librarian once told me that it is just as important to their reading skills to be read to as to read for themselves. Her daughter is 15 and she still reads to her.
