I am looking for some sort of book club to get books for 7mos old and 3 year old? They love books! I've tried those chain ones where you send one and your kids get one in return. No one ever gave us any! We have a lot already but looking to expand our collection.

What can I do next?

The Library is GREAT!

Another idea is the Ranger Rick and Highlights magazines they even have them for the little ones, we always read them together and loved them.

Oh my! You need Dolly Parton's Imagination Library! It's a wonderful FREE program where your child will receive one book every month until their 5th birthday! Really nice hard back books. And did I mention....FREE! Our pediatrician told us about the program when we had our first baby (who is now 6!). Her books are done now, but she still loves when her little brother gets his each month. And they've each gotten different books, so they are gender specific. Go to www.dollysimaginationlibrary.com. You will click on the train car that says "first time visitors" Then you will select "I want to enroll my child" and you'll go from there. You can enroll all the children in your household. I hope you and your family enjoy this as much as we do! =0)

Does your 3 year old go to preschool? If so they probably do Scholastic book clubs, so ask around...even if you have a friend that has kids in preschool maybe you can ask her to bring you an order form next time.

Also, I know Usborne (or Usbourne) books is sold by representatives, kind of like Tupperware so maybe you can search your local area for one of them!

Check out the library too!

Take your children to the library and they can have all the books in the world (just not to keep). Then buy your favorite ones for them to keep.

You could also try to talk to one of the preschool or kindergarten teachers at a school near your home. Scholastic now also takes school club orders online. If you order online, you enter a code for the teacher's classroom and they get credit for the order to earn toward books for the class. I don't know if they would send the books to your home or if you would have to get them from the teacher (if they are sent with the teacher's classroom order). A teacher might be willing to work with you since you would both benefit from it. A friend of mine has a daughter in 5th grade but also a 3 yr old at home and orders online, partnering with one of the preschool teachers to get the books.

I used Children's Book of the month club. It was a great way to start a collection.

Many schools will be having their spring book fairs soon. The book fairs are done thru Scholastic and during the spring many schools have a "buy one get one free" sale. Call your local elementary schools. Also check out Scholastic.com.

Since I was on a strict budget, I found alot of great used books in excellent condition at yard sales and church bazaars.

Depending on whether or not you want brand new books, I would suggest on line book swapping clubs. If you have some childrens books, or even after you get some and want to exchange for new ones you kids haven't read, there are several on line, titletrader.com, bookmooch.com and paperbackswap.com are the three I use. You make an inventory of the books you want to swap, these can even be other books you have laying around not just childrens books, then when another member wants one of your books, you pay media or first class mail to send it (usually a couple of dollars) to them which gets you a point, then you can search for kids books you want or browse other peoples inventories to see what they have and request a book. I have alot of fun with it getting books for myself as well as my grand kids.
