I have heard that this can happen bc they have some extra hormones from you in their body. over time they will fade. no worries. congrats on the new baby!
I have six kids, youngest is 3 weeks old. This is the first time I have noticed on any of my kids her 'breasts' or rather chest/nipple area is getting hard and enlarged is this normal?, all my kids were breast fed. I just never noticed this in the others-looks like she has an actual chest.

Too many female hormones , specifically, estrogen. I would watch my soy intake and cut it completely out. Don't use lotions with Parabens in the ingredients. Dont use estrogen creams. Watch anything with polysorbate 80, (vaccines, ice cream, etc). Try to get a filter on your water tap (chlorine is estrogenic). Watch out for swimming pools/saunas. Don't drink MT Dew. Flax seed or oil, and beef have high levels of phytoestrogens. The pill, steriods and anti anxiety/depressants can cause increased breasts. Try to get your Milk from a small local farmer, who will not be giving high levels of hormones to the cows.
High estrogens have been proven to be a cause of breast cancer in adults and i have read studies that point to infants exposed to high estrogens in utero having aged bones. High estrogen in-utero feminizes male infants and masulenizes females..
Raw Virgin Coconut oil creates the hormone progeserone, which will help to keep estrogen in check. You can eat it raw from the spoon. Replace your man made oils (yes all of them) with olive and raw virgin coconut oil . I would also take magnesium.
People are saying this is normal- what constitutes normal? The fact that it is becoming more common? Cancer is now becoming so common that 1 out of every three people will get it in their lifetime- yet it is not "normal", it is illness.
I don't think high estrogen levels in infants and young children is normal as far as normal goes, although it is becoming rampant. so if I were breastfeeding, I'd just try to keep estrogens eliminated wherever I could find it.
Totally normal. My baby BOY had this too and I've seen it on friends kids as well. I asked my doctor and the pediatrician and both said that the huge surge of hormones in our bodies right before we deliver can make the baby have a lot of adult female hormones in their little systems when they're born. Totally normal. Also totally normal for babies to have enlarged genitalia and for baby girls to even have bleeding like a period in the weeks after birth.
Enjoy your little girl (and her big boobies :-P )
Hope this helps,
T.
yes thats normal,i noticed that on my lil girl and thought the worst but i asked my daughters ped why they were that way and he said it was her breast tissue that would much later develop into her breasts when she reached puberty. and since yours is still very young its also because she still has some of your hormones in her system. but totally normal. :)
I believe this is considered normal. It has something to do with the hormone change and birth. Check with your doc for reassurance, but it should go away within a few weeks.
Yep its normal. Some kids react to all the extra hormones this way.
This happened to my daughter and I was so freaked out. At her next check up I talked to her pedi and she said it was normal. Congrats on you little one.
Leftover momma hormones. Normal. Ask your doc at her next check up if it's still there, but I wouldn't worry about it.
It's not unusual. They have a lot of your hormones in their body. My second one had this when she was a baby. Also, they can have a kind of period where they have some spotting. I think my second one did this too, but I don't remember for sure.
It's not so much to do with breast feeding, but that she has the hormones in her from before she was born. Once her hormone levels regulate, her chest will flatten out.
I wouldn't worry about it or do anything special to try and change it. It'll go away on its own. And it is normal.
I never had this with any of my children (I have 5) but I've had friends and family who had this. It is normal. Congratulations on your little one!
Yes hormones but call your doctor if it would make you feel better. Sometimes that phone call makes all the difference in stress level! New Moms don't need any more stress!!! My daughter actually had a mini period about a week after we brought her home from the hospital. It freaked us out! But we were told it was my left over hormones.
Yes my pediatrician said its from the hormones the baby gets from u n plus hers they will go down eventually.
I remember reading about that when I was pregnant. It can even happen with boy babies. It's just some of your hormones still in her body and will go away. There is nothing to worry about it. Here's a link to a medical website that explains it.

I've read about this. The hormones she absorbed from being in your womb are manifesting as breasts. Soon the hormones should work their way through her system and she will go back to normal.

This is totally normal. Especially if she was over-due... we even take note of it when we do the Ballard Scoring after delivery. A baby that's premature will have flat nipples and a baby that's over-due will have enlarged nipples.

My second daughter had this. I asked the doctor about it, she examined and said it was most likely just hormones and that we'd just keep an eye on it. It went away on it's own. But, if you're worried about it, ask your doctor.
Congrats on your baby girl! I just had my seventh a few months ago, my third girl, and we experienced the same thing. While everyone is telling you that it's normal, I haven't seen anyone mention that you may even notice milk coming from the breast- especially if you give it a little squeeze. Yes, like everyone said, it is hormonal and totally normal. All of my babies have been overdue- up to 14 days past their due date- and have been breastfed, and all the girls (if not the boys too- my memory fails me) have had this issue. It sounds crazy but she may actually be a little engorged! It will resolve on its own, just give it time.
Congratulations on your new daughter. In answer to your question, yes it's entirely normal. Hormones are passed through the placenta to the baby during pregnancy. It will go away on it's own. Enjoy your little one. It's great that you're breastfeeding too. S.
