Blotches on Skin

Over the past week or so I have noticed red blotches on my daughters arms and face when she is crying. These blotches look like rashes, but go away once she has calmed down. Have any of you ever noticed this on your children? What does this mean? I am debating on whether or not to call and ask the pediatrician about this.

What can I do next?

My daughter is now 5 and she gets blotches all over her face every time she gets really upset but goes away right after she calms. She has been this way from baby. I just always figured that was just the way her body reacted to that situation as someone else might get hives when they get nervouse or upset.

Hi! The same thing happens to my daughter, and has since she was a baby. She's now 2 1/2, and when she throws a fit she gets red and blotchy head to toe. Once she calms down it goes back to normal. She has blonde hair and blue eyes and very light skin--as a dark eyed brunette with olive skin myself it really freaked me out! The doctor was not worried about it at all, and said she probably will outgrow it. Hope that helps.

Hi.
I’m thinking your daughter could get hives when she’s really upset. My sister-in-law gets itchy hives when she is overly stressed or upset and they go away once she is calm. I would definitely give the Dr a call for peace of mind.

my son's face used to do that, and my MIL said my husband always did that. They are both fair skinned, my husband is a red head. If it goes away when she calms down, it is normal.

It never hurts to call the advice nurse... it sometimes helps put your mind at ease... and it's better to error on the side of being over cautious.
But this should help too... all of my children and I get blotches when we are upset. We are all fair skined and when our emotions are high or we are exercising too hard... we get red and/or blotches. Hope this helps!

sometimes stress causes a build up of histhamine in kids and it causes the splotches or hives. My daughter is 6 and it happens to her sometimes both as a reaction to food and stress.

PS is or was your daughter on soy.

Hello, My name is L. and I have a 3 yr old who has and still does the same thing. Her doctor said it was tiny blood vessels breaking and nothing to worry about. If for some reason they didn't go away then I would need to call. I hope I have helped in some way. Never be too cautious. Believe me I call the nurse alot just too make sure nothing is too serious. You may want to call just to be on the safe side. Good luck
