Im about six or seven weeks pregnant i started experiencing bleeding that has been on and off for four days now...i have talked to my doctor and there testing my hormone levels every few days but what frightens me is the bleeding and weak cramps... the doctors and the hospital have told me that all i can do is wait till my next ultra sound...I guess my question is how have women gotten through instances like this without freaking out.

What can I do next?

I had bleeding in both of my pregnancies. In my first I bled like a period for a month (starting at 6 wks)! All of my boys were born healthy and I never had a miscarriage! I'm sorry you have to go through that.

It happened to me too. And I freaked out too. But, everything turned out ok. So just listen to your doctors and pray for the best. Try not to stress as much as you can, I know it's scary.

get those earphone so you can hear the baby's heart beat as often as you want and try to count the beats if you see that they are staying "around" the same it might help you to feel that the baby is fine.

What makes you happy? taking a warm bath going for a long walk hanging out with friends? Do something else that you you enjoy like scrap booking, sewing, knitting, any hobbies? also drink plenty of fluids and get enough rest. Things will turn out how they are suppose too. Relax, breathe, it will be ok. Good luck!

I know many women that have gone through that. One even bleed through at least the whole first trimester. As far as not freaking out? Not sure that is possible. Just trust your doctor and keep yourself busy. Sending good thoughts your way.

Did your doctor tell you to REST? In the early stage of my pregnancy, I found that I would get cramps and spotting whenever I over exert myself. Then I would take it easy...not too much cleaning (no oven, floor, vacuum, lifting babies/toddlers, etc)...no heavy lifting of more then 10 lbs., and not too much running around, then it all goes away. It's so easy to loose the baby in the early stages that you REALLY need to NOT do your "usual" stuff. It is not until AFTER the 3 months mark that I resume my usual household duties.

See if that will help....I don't think it's "normal" to be bleeding and cramping for that many days so take it easy!

Are the hormone levels doubling? If so that's a good sign. They should be able to give you an immediate ultrasound. Unless maybe your insurance doesn't cover additional ones, in that case if your really freaked out and you can't wait you could go to a nearby ER and usually they will give you one right there and they should be able to detect a heartbeat. I had this happens twice and the first time it was a miscarriage and the second time everything was fine. Although with the miscarriage the blood got heavier and more bright red. With my daughter it was very faint, more brownish color so that's also something to look for. Good luck and I hope everything is fine!

Hi B.,
I had a light period untill my 4th month. Actually when it stopped I found out I was pregnant. Yes, the good part was that I didn't freak out about it, I did freak out when I found I was pregnant because after a big surgery 20 years ago the doctors sad I will never get pregnant. If I was you I would avoid hot baths and stop worry about it. Worrying might just make the things worst. Relax and enjoy the moment!

If it is just light bleeding, I wouldn't worry. I had some cramping early in pregnancy that was just due to my expanding uterus. Cramping is normal. Light bleeding is also normal. Your doctor will let you know if the bleeding is a cause for concern. Try not to stress over it since stress is bad during pregnancy. I know, easier said than done!

I understand what you're going through in the deepest sense of the word, but I hope you are also prepared for bad or disappointing news while at your next ultrasound. Did you have an ultrasound already or just a initial doctor visit?
Is this your first pregnancy or....?
I also wonder if you were using any type of birth control when you got pregnant!? I say this because I am currently awaiting my hormone levels to decrease to the level of miscarrying because I got pregnant while on the IUD and they knew it wasn't a viable pregnancy a week before they removed the IUD!
I've had 4 children (2girls & 2 boys) so I'm totally ok with this one not being viable and my family is as well. However, if this is your first pregnancy, I would get a second doctor's opinion if I were you and maybe explain to them that it is a much bigger concern to you then they seem to think. You know your body and if they aren't willing to look into the reasons for the bleeding then you need to change doctors or clinics.
Have you gotten any tests for STDs or UTI's (Urinary Tract Infections) to rule those out? If its possible you contracted something, it needs to be taken care of now so it doesn't end up like what I'm going through. Just suggesting the possibilities to you. I don't mean to come off in a negative or uncaring way if it seems I am. I just think you need to let the doctors know that you know this isn't right AT ALL and you want them to figure out why you're having these symptoms in the first place! Good luck and God Bless!
