Hello everyone,
I wanted to know what type of food do/will you serve at a 3yr olds birthday party? There will be about 25 people(majority aunts and uncles). We're having her party at the local community center(which has two different playgrounds) what types of games do you suggest? The theme for my daughters party is "Princess and the Frog"(when I say theme I basically mean all of her decorations). I have an idea just know sure how to excute it(pin the lips on the frog). What types of party favors do you suggest for a mixed crowd of boys and girls ages ranging from 1yr-10yrs. There will be about 8grls and 3boys(older cousins). Thank you in advance, I hope I provided enough information.*The birthday party is May 29, 2-4p.m

What can I do next?

I haven't seen the movie, but try to get ideas from that. ie: party favors you could get some frog toys. Or I have seen Princess and Frog plastic cups(at Party City). Perhaps get each child a cup and just fill it with candies. Simple, quick, easy. Doubtful that the older boys would want a Princess and the Frog cup though. Maybe just find some frog cups or little sussies. There are a lot of frog things out there.

I like your lips on the frog idea.

My 3 yr old son is having his bday party next week. We're just having pizza, salad, and cake. I think my mom is going to bring some sort of appetizer too - deviled eggs, chips and dip of some sort. Simple simple. BTW - you can get cupcakes and stick frogs or rings or whatever else on top. That could be your small little party favor too, if you wanted.

oooohhhhhh......

a mix of adult food and kid food....

Find out if you can have someone cater it - so you won't be busting your chops to get it all done!!!

I will assume (oooh I don't like to do that) that you will be having this in the late Spring - almost summer time? If so - you will need foods that will handle "heat" well....or can be kept warm...

BBQd meatballs, pigs in a blanket.....but with the theme for a Princess - watch the Royal Wedding and see what they serve there!! :)

deviled eggs, peanut butter in celery sticks, ooohhhh i'm afraid I'm not much help!

Good luck!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Sorry I wasn't much help!!!

I see that the party is on a Sunday, but I find 2-4 to be a tough time to plan food. Some people will have already eaten lunch and not be hungry (nor will they expect a meal). Some people will think you're providing a Sunday mid-afternoon dinner. For this reason, I suggest doing finger foods that people can just snack on or make into a meal, e.g. wings, meatballs (w/ buns for those who want to make sandwiches), veggie pizza squares, heavy dips (like a sausage queso or spinach-artichoke) with chips, etc. If the center has a grill, you could do burgers and dogs, which are always a hit, but particularly on Memorial Day weekend...

I am not an activity organizer for these types of events, particularly if the kids are all different ages. Just bring some balls, soccer nets (or indoor activities like a toy bowling set or corn hole if the weather's bad) and let the kids make their own fun. Between late arrivals, early departures, food, cake and singing the birthday song, you'll be out of time before you know it :)

I skip the favors at our kids' parties, but we specifically request no gifts (asked for donations to the local food bank last year, so people wouldn't feel obligated to bring gifts). I really don't like when my kids come home with bags of junky stuff from birthday parties, but that's one of my personal peeves...

I was eager to check out this thread because my little guy will be having his 3rd birthday party in July. We also have a range of ages for the children.

For past parties we have ordered food trays from Walmart. They have one that is 3 types of chicken (popcorn, fingers and barbeque boneless) and that is a hit. I add chips, cheese curls, pretzels, fruit, mac n cheese....I am having a mind blank but I am sure I have other things. I do cupcakes rather than cake because it seems to have less mess and just work better for small children.

I like your game idea!! Very creative and cute. We always do a pull-string pinata because even the 1 year olds can do this and the older children love it. I was at a birthday party for a 4 year old recently where they played a neat game. Candy was spread on the floor (we were inside because it was cold). The children threw a small ring like from a ring toss and the candy the ring circled was then theirs. The 3+ year olds liked it a lot. The younger kids didn't get it and got bored too quickly but you could do that for the older children.

For favors I try not to give 'junk' that will just get tossed aside. I buy one nicer item for each child as Leah M. said. Last year I got each child a metal refillable water bottle at 5 Below for like $3 each.

Pin the lips on the frog is a good idea!! Maybe you can have a three legged or potatoe sack race, red light, green light for the older kids, musical chairs, blow bubbles for the smaller kids, and twister. since its out doors. Finger sandwiches in the shape of a 3, a tiara or a frog. Just a few ideas. Have fun! :)
