I loved getting personalized stationery/note cards from my sister. I really like using stationerystudio.com. On their site you can pick from hundreds of designs, colors, etc. from classic to funky.
I was wondering if any of you have given or gotten a really thoughtful gift that you loved. I want to buy something for a good friend of mine for her birthday, but I am having a really hard time thinking of something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I love the store Naka in downtown Ferndale for great gift ideas. Also, I just ran across an online store called "greenglass.com" that sells great glass gifts made of recycled and reclaimed wine and beer bottles. They look great and are reasonably priced for a unique gift.

Something that I do when I know I am going to be getting a gift for some in the near future, or if its someone I buy for every year for birthdays, anniverseries, or for Christmas, is try to be ovservant. Listen when they are talking. Is there something that they particularly need? Maybe there is something they mention in passing during the year that they would love to have? Something they mention that they saw and just loved. Have you ever gone shopping together and seen her admire something yet put it back on the shelf?
If you happen to notice any of these things when your with someone or just talking to them, make a mental note! I even have a little notebook that I will jot gift ideas down into for family and friends and when the occasion arises that I want to give a gift, I have a resource to turn to, and its customized and very personal. Most of the time the recipient is very pleasantly suprised and wants to know how I knew that they wanted/needed it. The secret is just being a good listener, and jotting down a few notes. I hope this was helpful to you.
i always find great stuff on Etsy (www.etsy.com). it's all handmade, and there is so much quirky and fun stuff.
good luck:)

If you really want truly original gifts there is a site that features hand made artist's work. these things are one of a kind and not mass produced "stuff". I am not affiliated with them in any way other than I love to check out all the cool stuff. Its www.earthangeltoys.com

For Mothers Day my husband bought me a charm bracelet. I LOVE it. He adds a new charm to it for various holidays.
There some more reasonable options out there. You could choose charms that represent special times in your friendship.

You have gotten some great responses. How about adding a box of fudge with the gift you select? Fudge and women always go great together!

Depending on how long you have been friends, I would suggest scrapbooking a memory book of the two of you over the years.
It is great to look back and see the things you have done together... the differnt fashion trends, the places you have visited..etc.
I got an email yesterday from Clinique and I loved their new idea. You can order a personalized bottle of thier 'Happy' perfume. You upload a picture to the website and they put it on the bottle. I think turnaround time was 5 - 9 days, which doesn't seem bad at all. And it was the same price as an undecorated bottle, $49.50. I'm thinking about ordering one for each of the grandma's for Christmas!
Good luck!
I have recently given a good friend of mine a spa pedicure. Sometimes it is hard for moms to get time away for just themselves and something like a spa treatment is really great for a gift. My friend really loved this and in fact we went together so we could have some girl time. I bought up a specialty coffee and we talked while our feet got pampered. She still talks about it.
I believe the best gift a woman can get is a day to pamper herself such as manicure-pedicure, a massage, day at a spa.. etc..
A soap basket from backyardsoaps.com. I order from there all the time now.
A couple years ago I bought my friend a $75 gift certificate to a day spa. What could be better for a mom than a day of pampering?? Of course, I found out later that she has a "thing" about being partially naked in front of strangers, and she never redeemed it. I thought it was a good idea, anyway....

I received this from a friend once: I beautiful jar filled with several slips of paper. On each slip of paper, my friend had written something nice about me. Whenever I was feeling down, I could pull out a slip of paper and read it!
Hi M. - Warm Spirit products are phenomenal. The products are naturally and botanically based. Some are even organic and the products are so good for your skin. They make you feel good. Warm Spirit has everything from footcare products to body butters, body scrubs, shower gels, to organic soy candles that burn 80 to 90 hours. Check out the online catalog at www.warmspiritcatalog.com. If you need samples of scents just let me know and I'll pop some in the mail to you. Passion Pomegranate is AWESOME!!! I got the products as a gift more than 4 years ago and I've been hooked. I love the Anahita's Brown Sugar Scrub and Anahita's body butter. I hope this is helpful. You can also order on my site at www.warmspirit.org/bepamperedbydarla or just call me. I can make her a personalized spa basket just for her. When I was undergoing chemo for breast cancer a couple of years ago, a friend who's a photographer had a photograph he'd taken of my two sons screened onto a canvas tote bag. I love it, and I'm still using it more than two years later. If your friend has kids and you can innocently snap some shots, I'd imagine that you could easily and inexpensively download a photograph and have it screened onto any number of gift items.
