Hi mamas,
I'm not sure what kind of birth control to use. In the past I took birth control pills but I'm not going to do that. I'm trying to decide between Mirena IUD or Nuvaring or maybe something called implanon? I think Mirena would be great but the thought of a piece of string sticking out of me kinda freaks me out, and with Nuvaring I'm scared I wont be able to find it and bring it back out... just throwing soem thoughts out there... lol.
Just wondering what experiences you mamas have had with either of these or any suggestions you may have?
Thanks!!!!

What can I do next?

Let me say about the Mirena. I had it and my sister had it. I wouldnt recomend it. It did take away my periods which was nice but i always felt bloated and had cramping and very very moody and couldnt loose weight and also it gave me sharp pains during sex and recently had it removed. My sister had horrible migranes and very high blood pressure (she 24) she had to be on blood pressure medicine and had to take medication for her migranes which was like $100.00 for one pill. She also recently had hers taken out and now she doesnt have high blood pressure or migranes anymore. Also to think about my mom told us (who is a RN) that its still new out and you dont now what all the side affects are and also its something that is stuck inside of you that can harber bacteria and your more prone to infections with something left in you. I wont ever recommend an IUD from experience and other peoples experience with it. I would just stick with the birth control pills as long as you take them right they will be effective. Also my sister is trying the nuvaring and she likes it so far.

You really need to research the Mirena. My personal experiance, I will never get another. I didn't realize how many of my problems were attributed to the mirena until it came out. achy body, weight gain (really bad), giant acne sores, and bad mood swings. About a month after mine came out and i had my first cycle, everything evened out. i did a lot of internet research and didn't see many good things said about mirena. it has to do a lot with your body chemistry.

I had the nuvaring and loved it! it wont' get loss..lol but you do have to be a complete comfort with your own body to put it in and take it out. I would feel it if it slid down (almost feels like when you dont have a tampon quite in right) .. but the medicine seemed localized enough to not make ya a looney bin.. good luck in deciding :)

I had a Mirena for 2 years and hated it! I had horrible acne, put on weight and couldn't lose it, had lots of break through bleeding, and was tired much more often. The OB-GYN swears that it had nothing to do with the Mirena, but within 10 days of me having it removed, I had lost some weight, my skin was clear, and I seemed to have some sort of renewed energy (and others noticed these things too). I wouldn't recommend the Mirena to any of my friends because of how much I disliked it (and the number of moms I know who also had problems with it).

I also used the Nuvaring and disliked that as well. Honest to goodness, I bled for 3 months straight. My body just completely rejected it and it's hormones.

After trying both of those, I used BC and condoms. I hope this helps and good luck!

I have Mirena, LOVE IT! i had spotting and craps for the first few days, aleve was my bestfriend. I've had it 1 year 4 months. I sometimes (after rough sex) I can spot a little but no big deal, I havent had a period for over 1 year YAY!. As for the string you cant see it, the first few days you can feel it because it is not as soft as the inside of you, but it gets "wet" and then you dont even know it is there. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. (I'm always honest, and I will answer anything you may want to know)

I have had the implanon for almost 3 years now and its been great for me. It is great if you are with in a healthy weight, your body reacts well to progesterin only bc, and you dont mind having a piece of plastic in your arm.
Pros: Oral antibiotics do not affect the effectivness of this bc method, you can never forget to take it, it is undetectable under the skin.
Cons: breast size can decrease, irregular bleeding for the first few months
Indiffences: you will not have a period every month, sometimes not for a year

do what is best for your bady, your lifestyle, and your pocket book
