Birth Control Headaches

I have been on Loestrin for almost a month and I have had a headache every day since. Is it just my body getting used to it, or should I ask for another birth control? I was on Yazmin 28 for years but it's been 5 years since I was on anything and I don't remember if I dealt with this before.

What can I do next?

Hi Bethany,

You have the same name as my little girl. I think it's a beautiful name:-).

I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for one month and one month only, thank goodness! I had the WORST headaches ever while I was on it. One night I freaked out and told my hubby that I needed to go to the ER because I thought I had something seriously wrong. Luckily, I went in and got the Paragard IUD, and I don't have to worry about the headaches anymore. I did talk to my midwife about it though, and she said that if I chose to continue to use the pill as my method of contraception, she would need to switch me to the regular Ortho Tri Cyclen, because the hormone levels in the low dose pills are much more likely to cause headaches. If I were you, I would talk to my doc about switching pills. Good luck to you. I read over your previous posts about your miscarriages, and the loss of your nephew, and I just wanted to say that I believe God will bless you and I don't know exactly how He will choose to do that, but it will be perfect and fitting for your exact circumstance. He is so aware of all the details of your life, and He knows just what you need, just when you need it. Keep your chin up!

I know I had headaches for the first few days after beginning birth control, but I guess my body just needed ot adjust to it. If you are still having headaches after almost a month maybe the hormone levels in that particular pill don't sit well with you, and asking your doctor about it and seeking another pill may not be a bad idea...

Hi,

I had a headache with that one in the beginning- I am still on it. It has gone away since taking it later at night- 9pm works well for me.

I used to get them with the pills... i figured nuva ring would be better... instead of just an annoying headache i got an unbearable migrane. I'm now off birth control because my body just cant handle it.
