Birds Nest in Trouble - UPDATE

I know some of you were interested to find out what happened to the nest of baby robins under our deck. S.H. thank you for all the links! I called a few of them and was directed to the PA Game Commission because there is a federal law against moving a birds nest! Well, everything was okay and they said I could move the nest and that mother birds won't reject the babies if they've been moved or touched. So, we moved the nest about 20 feet away at the same height and the mother bird found the nest and is back to taking care of the babies. We're so happy! My husband even got tears in his eyes when he saw the mother bird feeding them! Hopefully, everything continues to go well! Thanks again for all the advice!

Awwww, So sweet! Thanks for helping the L. birdies. We once had a L. hummingbird make a teeny tiny nest in a hanging plant next to our big kitchen glass sliding door. It was so lovely watching the L. eggs hatch (3 of them, a L. bigger than jelly beans) and the mama feed the babies. We were able to get really close (on the other side of the glass) and although the mama knew we were there and we went in and out of the door quite regularly, she was fine w/ it and we all lived in peace. We watched each of the L. babies fly the coup on their own terms and timeline and whenever we see hummingbirds in our yard, a few of them get quite close to us and aren't afraid. We think these are "our" L. babies :) I didn't see your original post, but love your SWH!

So much fun! We live in a house at level with the treetops and every Spring get to enjoy many songbirds nesting and raising their young right out our windows. We have an actual birdhouse on the deck that the same type of L. bird, (maybe the same exact birds) comes back to every year.
Watch for when the babies leave the nest but the parents will still feed them for a few weeks and they hang out together as a family, so sweet.
I feel so lucky to live in a house surrounded by nature!

So lovely! I'm glad this worked out! My robin was sitting in her nest last night in the rain. Still wondering if she's going to lay more eggs...

Glad to hear it all turned out OK! Our birds have totally flown the nest, unfortunately one didn't make it. Hubby buried it while the papa bird watched.
