I used to wax my bikini but I found Taz at FRISCO NAIL BAR and she does "sugaring." Same concept but I find it to be a less painful, no ingrown hairs and doesn't bother my skin after it is done. I go about every 5-6 weeks.
Hi ladies,
I am wanting to get a professional bikini wax for the first time.
I am wanting to know if it hurts? And if it does how long?
Does the bikini area become red? If so How long?
Also I live in the north dallas area.
I am wanting a good reputable place in the plano, frisco, addion area.
Thank you
N

I have never had a bikini wax before, but I can tell you the absolute best place to go for any waxing. It is the Face Place at Park and Preston in Plano. I've been going there for over 15 years (even though I've lived in Dallas/Houston/Austin in that time), and I haven't had anyone do a better job. Any of the ladies are wonderful. Their phone number is ###-###-####.
Hi there! I normally get mine done every 2-3 months... I take two advil 30 minutes before my appointment and apply a 'No Scream Cream' 15 minutes prior. This helps a little, but everyone's pain tolerance is different. I have a very LOW pain tolerance so this is def a 'beauty is pain' treatment for me! But then again, I have a friend who also gets this done and it doesn't hurt her at all... For me, it only hurts during the wax and might be a little tender to the touch up to a few hours following. It is normally red in that area for no more than 6-8 hours. There is a soothing gel that you can get to apply after if you need it. You will find that the first time might be the most uncomfortable/painful and it gets much easier over time. Also-the hair begins to grow back slower, thinner, and over-all just alot less. Some people might even experience no hair growth after a while... I've been getting it done for almost two years and just have gaps now... My Licensed Esthetician is located in McKinney-not for sure if that is too far for you, but she is wonderful! Here is her information:

Just tell her A. referred you and she will take great care of you!
If you're going to go through the pain anyway, you might want to consider laser hair removal. I have done bikini, underarms and am currently doing lower leg. I have really dark hair so it has been SOOO worth it for me. I did it at Sona Medspa in Frisco.
best of luck!
Solare Spa (Legacy and Lebanon) in Frisco is good...I use a licensed lady named Farrah and she is super nice and good. It will hurt like eveyrone says but just tell her this is your first time and she'll walk you thru it. They will ask if you want regular bikini wax or brazilian...just so you know brazilian is all or almost all of it waxed off. A regular which is mainly the sides and some of the top if you want is around $50 I believe. Solare is very good and you can get an appt pretty easy. If you are going on a trip I would get the wax done at least 2 days before you leave. You will probably have some irritation but it will go away in about 24-48 hours.
PS...I've heard of "sugaring"...didn't know someone in Frisco did it. That other mom posted...you mightw ant to consider that.
PSS. I've done threading too. I love it on my eyebrows or face area but would NEVER do it on my bikini. Just my opinion.
Yes it does hurt, but it is worth the pain to skip the shaving and the bumps that go with that, at least for me.
Usually the redness is gone in about 24 hrs. I see Amy Talanca in the U beauty med spa in Plano at the shops at Legacey. She is the BEST and has had several articles written about her in D magazine.
I had my bikini area waxed for years, then had my first child and was a stay at home mom--the bikini wax was an expense that I had to give up. Now I am going back again. Yes it does hurt. You are pulling your hair out of its roots, for crying out loud. But it is worth it, especially in the summer or before a vacaion when you will be wearing a swim suit a lot. I have pale skin, dark hair, and you couls see the hair underneath the skin. I was also prone to ingrown hairs, and found that waxing was the only way for me to be able to particpate in activities when I would be wearing a swimsuit. A "Brazilian" is almost EVERYTHING taken off. That is really not worth it because the further you go in, the more it hurts. And then there is totally bear, which is often called a "Kojac" made famous by Tely Savales' character on the TV show, who was bald.
Sugaring is about the same on the pain meter, and threading is more painful. It is an ancient technique performed by women from the Middle East and is best left to small areas. Laser hair removal might be a good option for you long-term, but I had that done too and still have to wax or shave--it is NOT the miracle, permanant hair removal that the advertisements claim. I go to Grand Spa at Belt Line and the Tollway. Expect to pay anywhere from $40-$50 for a good bikini wax. Some estheticians will even go through a tweeze the hairs that didn't get pulled with the wax. Sometimes it helps for her to actually "pull" or stretch the skin on the inner thigh to make it more taut--this gives a better pull because there are no muscles right near the surface to help with the pull of the wax.
It hurts like Hell! BUT it is worth it, no iritation usually and lasts way longer than shaving. I always take some advil about 30 min before. And do not go if starting, or on your period-it hurts way worse! I totally cannot remember the name of the place I go. My friends took me to Connie. She is at Park/parker? & tollway behind target. i will try and look that up for ya.
it does hurt some. the more you go in on the top part hurts worse. that is where most of your nerve endings are. for the first time i would recomend a nice salon as it can be an intimate thing and you want to feel comfortable. i like red door in willow bend or galleria. after the first time, you can try a less expensive one as long as the person is liscensed. you will probably be red and maybe a little puffy for 1-2 days so plan it in advance of any special occassion. good luck
I usually get a bikini wax in the summer before vacation. Yes, it hurts, but you get over it. I found it is worth it before going on vacation because you don't have to worry about shaving and it is is much neater. Do find a professional or someone you will feel comfortable with...because it is an intimate situation. Go for it!
You have to try the Relax and Wax No Scream Cream. It's a mild numbing agent. I used to work for a spa where we did a lot of Brazilian waxes and almost everyone used the No Scream because it makes such a difference.
I have been having it done for about 2 years now and I'm still going so the pain can't be that bad, right? The first time will be the most painful. My skin was red after that first time and had a chicken skin (sorry to be so graphic) texture for the next couple of days. I currently go every 4-6 weeks because I find that it doesn't hurt as bad if I go more frequently. I go to JC Penny is Stonebriar Mall. They are licensed and I find the price to be much more budget friendly than some of the spa places I've tried. The very first time I got waxed I followed it up with a relaxing facial...that is definitely the way to go! :)
It does hurt at first, but the pain soon goes away. Sure beets the irritation caused by shaving. The area will be red afterwards, but I find that it is usually back to normal by the next day. It usually takes around 40-45 minutes for bikini and brow wax. I have been using a lady that is located at Preston and Park. She is licensed and someone who makes you feel comfortable. Her name is:
Tina Haba

Good Luck,

Are you kidding! Of course it hurts!! But we do it anyway. Be sure the hair is trimmed, first.
I misunderstood and let it grow out - YEOW!! I couldn't close my legs for DAYS!
I have a friend who swears by threading as an alternative. She says it's not as painful and leaves the skin smoother.
I haven't tried it - she went to a lady in Plano. If you're interested, let me know and I'll give you her name & #.
