Welcome to mamapedia!!

I'm sorry you have a partially paralyzed arm. If that were my situation? I would not have pans I cannot handle in my kitchen...cast iron is HEAVY!!!

In order to "clean" the house out - you need to open all the windows and let it air out.

I would hire a cleaning service to come in and help - or ask family to help - the smokey smell is on the walls - you need to clean the walls and the ceiling of the kitchen.

Make sure the grease is truly cleaned up. Not under any appliance. Use paper towels to absorb any grease off the floor.

At night? I would put baking soda out - I know it sounds funky - but put baking soda on the counters to absorb smells as well. Vinegar will help as well if you wipe the walls down with vinegar.

Hope this helps!

You may need to wipe down the walls with some sort of cleaning solvent. The grease and oil which burnt got into the smoke and onto the walls, and possibly the rug/fabric. You might try removing any textiles/cloth to a place where it can air out or wash it if possible. If the rug smells you may need to steam clean it.

Otherwise, I'd also check in with a damage restoration company. I had a client who left baby bottle nipples in a pan which boiled dry-- this caused a lot of smoke damage to the house-- and she used a damage restoration service. I'm not sure what they did, but someone from an agency like that might be able to help or offer a resource/website with tips.

Burning a candle on the kitchen counter helps when I've burnt something in the oven.
