I have a 17 month old son! In the past 2 weeks i have noticed that his tummy seems to be getting larger and larger!!! I don't understand what's going on. He's also had massive amounts of diharea. Has anyone else experienced this and if so is it reason to be concerned!?

What can I do next?

Thank you all for your advice and concerns! I eneded up takin him to the doctor not too long after i put this up! I actually didn't read any of your advice till today.... oops lol! But the doc said that the medication that he was on for his ear infection may cause diharea and bloating but they FAILED to tell me this when they gave it to me! DOCOTRS!!!!!! JEEZ!!!!!!! But anyhow.... they said that if the diharea continues into next week that i need to take him in for a stool inspection!!! My poor baby! He has no problems eating or drinking!

Sounds exactly like a scenario I read about Celiac disease. Cut out all gluten and see if it gets better.

Diharea, in massive amounts, is not good for your little one. He could become dehydrated. It sounds like you need to take your child to the doctor asap!
Good Luck

Well, yeah, usually diarrhea is cause for concern if there are other symptoms and/or lasts longer than a few days. Take that kid in to see a doc right away!

You will also want to make sure to give him Pedialyte or something similar to make sure he doesn't lose too many fluids. Seeing the doctor is the most important thing. How long has this been going on?

Its time to schedule him for a doctor's appointment. Diarrhea and a distented belly need to be evaluated at the doctors office.

Please get him to a good doctor to be checked. It could be nothing or it could be something very serious and I would advise you to do it soon. Sometimes little toddlers have a large tummy and yet if it's getting bigger all the time and diarrhea I would not wait to get it checked and don't let a doctor just put you off about it. I'd want to be sure no tumor or anything for sure if it's growing. And if all if is fine and I do pray it is, you could find out why he's got diarrhea if it's that bad and get that stopped.
I don't mean to alarm you but please get him checked and don't just guess about it.

Have not experienced this; however, if I were in this situation, I would take my son to the doctor ASAP!

At this point, I agree that you may want to call the pediatrician. As others stated, dehydration is a concern with the diarrhea. But, the belly thing is beyond me......doesn't hurt to call and ask (they'll tell you if they want to see you and if there's reason for concern)
