We do not have an indoor cat. We have an outdoor cat (that showed up after we bought the house) but we do have a 'cat' door from the garage into our house. It has broken into pieces and now is held on by masking tape - very nice looking!! LOL I need to know the best place to replace or fill it (other than just buying another cat door). The previous owners had screwed the previous door shut so it's not like they even used it. Do I really need to buy a new door or could I buy a kick plate or something else? Any ideas to 'fill' in that space before winter comes and we lose heat out of the opening?

Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

**Should mention we have the cat but she's strictly outdoors. Won't even come if if we invite her!**

You could buy another cat door from a place like Home Depot and have a nice looking door. If you are determined to not have a cat or dog door, then the least expensive way is to buy a kick panel for both sides. Put a piece of styrofoam to fill in the cat door and act like insulation before installing the kick panels.

Good luck to you and yours.

Do you still have the cat? Then I would look at getting a magnetic cat door, that will stay closed and keep most of the cold air out. They are fairly inexpensive. I've seen them on amazon.com

You could cut a piece of wood and nail it over it... then caulk around the sides. Ugly, but it should get the job done!

I would say to find a kick plate or something similar, screw it down over the hole, and paint over it to match the door.
