Where can I go to find a quality pair of shoes for my 14-month-old boy (scottsdale area)? I don't want to spend more than $40, but I want something that will be healthy for his feet and also that is not made in China (not soft soled but flexible, for outdoor/airport type use). If you know of a pair of shoes that fits the bill, please share! Thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi A.,
I just got my son stride rite shoes as well at Paradise Valley mall. They were $51 total with tax, but they are suppose to be one of the best shoes to buy to support your childs feet and ankles. Not sure where they are made, I would have to check. But good luck.

Hi A.. I went through the same thing a few months ago. My son started walking at 10 months old and boy- I was not prepared. I went into Nordstroms and asked in the kids shoes dept. They actually had an entire table of shoes that are called "walkers" or "walking shoes." They are designed for this age group- beginning walkers. They had tons to choose from! The soles are very flexible but still very supportive. We ended up getting a pair of Nike walkers for either $35 or $40. I got white so they go with everything since he's only getting one pair. Good luck.

I was looking for that same thing when my son was about that age. I finally went to stride rite in the PV mall. They have a special line of shoes for new walkers that have flexable soles but are still for out door use. They run $30-40 unless you can catch some on a sale and they are about $10-15 then. They are great, they will measure your child's foot and they have lots of styles to chose from but best of all you can be sure that they are good for your son's feet. Ahh, peace of mind in one area of motherhood. Good Luck!

I bought my daughter some Robeez Tredz online (they are the outdoor/walker Robeez). I don't know where to get them in a store, but I really liked these shoes. I felt like they are the only shoes I've bought her that were really worth the money I paid. Here is the website: http://www.robeez.com/Department.aspx?DeptID=304&Pric....

Have you tried Nordstrom Rack at FLR and Scottsdale Road? It's in the shopping strip with Michaels and Old Navy. They sometimes have great shoes for little ones for really good deals.
