I went to mexico when my guy was 3 months old and he needed something the doctor told me I could use california baby I loved it.
Can any of you recommend any sunscreen products that you have been happy with? I am looking for one that is safe for babies, but that is suitable for older children as well. I would like as high SPF as possible, waterproof, and one that doesn't burn their eyes. Thanks for your help!

i trust (and love) just about anything Aveeno. I tried their sunscreen last summer with my girls and it was great.
Both my pediatritian and OB ( I am nursing and pregnant) recomended Avon Skin So Soft 30 Spf. The nice thing is it is also a bug repellent! I found some at Kiddos Closet on Park Row in Arlington
For the past two years I have used Banana Boat for Kids SPF 60+. I have one with very sensative skin and it works great. I even use it for myself. My children have yet to burn with it on. The only time we reapply is when we are at the beach and the sun is stronger. My kids are dark complected and end up with the most beautiful golden tan. I highly recommend it. We have used it on my nephew who is as fair as they come WHITE and he has yet to burn too.
We just started using one my dermatologist recommended. It's safe for every age. Sea & Ski All Day foam in 30 SPF. It's waterproof and clinically proven to protect for 8 hours w/o reapplication. We tried it for the first time this weekend at the Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. It's super easy to apply since it's a foam. And since it's gentle for kids, I even applied to our faces. One of my kiddoes has sensitive skin, and he had no problems or redness from this sunscreen. My kids are 1 and 3, and were in and out of the water over the course of about 5 hours. No one had any signs of sun exposure.
The only problem I found with this sunscreen was trying to find it. I ended up buying it on eBay for $7 a bottle and just stocked up for the summer.
One more thing, my dermatologist recommended products with either Zinc Oxide or Parsol 1789.
This is her website with link to other recommended sunscreens...

My pediatrician ONLY recommends BULLFROG You can get it at walmart ( & other places) it's about $8.00 per bottle & they have several formulas! I have 3 girls that are very fair skinned(IRISH & GERMAN) & they have NEVER gotten a sunburn!!!
HOWEVER you HAVE to apply it at least 20 minutes before getting into the sun(just like any sunscreen)!! The label says 8 hour waterproof & they mean it!!! I put it on them at 10 am & they play & swim & eat lunch then about 3pm if we're still out I'll re-apply it!!! I know that if your baby is under 6months then you cant use any sunscreen on them!
Oh yeah.....they also have one with mosquito repellant in it for beach or evening swims!! I think the spf's range from 36 to 45!!!
THEY WORK!!! GOOD LUCK!!!!!
Hi K.. I highly recommend Arbonne's Baby Care Sunscreen SPF30+. It is the best out there! Arbonne's products are all herbal and botanically based, hypoallergenic, dermatologist and pediatrician tested and recommended, and have no chemical dyes or fragrances in them! They are perfect for babies extremely sensitive skin! Also, did you know that any SPF higher than 30 can actually cause a chemical type of burn to the skin...before you ever get a sunburn?! So, you want to use the safest possible and most effective sunscreen that you can find. I use Arbonne's Baby Care Sunscreen on my 3-year-old son every day because we're outside so often on walks and playing. I also use it on myself too when I don't have my own "tan enhancing" sunscreen. :)
If you'd like to try a FREE sample, please let me know, and I'll send you one! You can also check it out online at: www.mandyolsen.myarbonne.com. Good luck finding something that works for you and your baby!
Sincerely,
M. O.

We use Banana Boats baby SPF 50 spray on our 8 month old son who has red hair and fair skin and it works great.
I have always used Banana Boat and I was always happy with the protection but it did burn their eyes. But recently I saw an advertisement in American Baby for Banana Boat SPF 50 for babies and it's spray on and they say it does not burn the eyes! So I can't wait to get some of that!!!!
Hi, K.! I think most of the sunscreens available for babies and children work well, unless your child has a particular reaction. My oldest son did have some trouble when he was much younger. I never figured out what ingredient caused this, but his forehead would become red and very splotchy. The only sunscreen that did not seem to do this was the Banana Boat version of baby sunscreen. Also, with light-haired, fair skin children I always wanted to try the spray-on sunscreen for their heads. A friend tried this and said it has to be re-applied very often to be effective. Hope this helps, and enjoy your fun in the sun with your kiddos!

I LOVE the Arbonne sunscreen products. I'm sure you can find a dealer near you, but if not, call my friend Angie at ###-###-####. My family is very fair-skinned so a good sunscreen is very important to us! We've had great luck with Arbonne.
K.,
I had extensive 3rd degree burns when I was a kid so I am extremely suceptible to sunburns and skin cancer. I have always used bullfrog because it sticks (even after prolonged water exposure) and protects. I have since started using it on my babies and it works wonders. I do use the banana boat brand on their faces because it does not burn their eyes. Another alternative, that is finally main-stream, (they have been sold in Australia for quite some time and have been used by surfers) is using the spf shirts. They do work! I bought mine at Target and have seen them at Babystyle as well.
Arbonne baby is the best and it's botanically-based. I've used alot of off the shelves and my little girl would still get red and she would break out.
I just joined Arbonne because of their NutriMinC RE9 line. I recieved a sample and fell in love with it. I also got some samples of the Baby line, used it on my little girl and it was great. I am in Plano, if you would like a sample.
I am a firm believer of trying it out first!
Also trying out the Figure 8 system...still have a few pounds to lose! I'll keep you all updated on how that works!

Dear K.,
I noticed that you have had some responses regarding Arbonne sunscreen for kids and would love to send you sample to try. I have infact mailed a dozen samples to the women on this site, I began using Arbonne products because of my kids and have not touched anything since.
Let me know if you would like a sample to try.
Thanks.
R. Smith
I see you have had several responses. Banana Boat is good. I use Mary Kay SPF 30 on my kids. My pediatrician in Knoxville, TN, where I moved from would only use MK on his kids. I have never heard my kids complain about it burning their eyes so I assume it doesn't. Have a great summer.

STAY AWAY FROM WATER BABIES by COPERTONE!
My sister has senstive skin and since she was a baby the only one she has ever been able to use is the coppertone for babies/kids that has the little dog tugging on the kids swim suit lol. Shes now about to turn 21 and still uses it.
I use a product called Noodle and Boo. It's a little pricy but it works great. I live in Denton and have bought it in a store on the square called Elements of Design. It doesn't burn if it gets in their eyes and it protects my fair skinned, blond little boy very well.
I second the recomendation for Arbonne's Baby sunscreen! We just spent 4 hours in the sun today and no burns or tans either! I have a very fair skinned son and a dark skinned little girl and it worked wonders! I also used the Made in the Shade sunscreen adult sunscreen and it worked wonderfully. I even used it on my face!
