Best Place to Buy Jeans/pants

I desperately need new clothes, especially pants. When I went shopping recently, all of the pants were "skinny" pants, with the slim calves that only look good on anorexics.

So where do I find jeans and slacks that don't cost a fortune (I'd like to keep them under say, $60), that aren't too high or too low-waisted, that have a boot cut leg or slight flare.

I need both jeans and nicer pants, and would love some pants with color, since it's still summer and I'm tired of drab colors.

Thanks!

(I went to Macy's, Banana Republic, Gap, among others.)

I have had the best luck at Target of all places. They have jeans on the back wall that are a standard cut jeans. You can get them in different rises. They are advertised as "Fit 1-6" the lower number being a higher rise, the lower number being a lower rise. They come in longs which I need for my long legs which I love. They are only $20 or so a pair which is great too.
The weird thing is that a lot of other pants at Target don't fit me as well as their jeans. I have bought quite a few pair, spread out over a few years and they all still fit.
I have been to more stores than I can count and have tried on so many horrible fitting pairs of jeans.

Talbots has a lot of summer pants (crop or ankle styles, bright and light colors) on clearance right now as well as full-length pants. I have three pairs of their side-zip bi-stretch pants for work and they have been the staples of my work wardrobe for years. Well worth the investment, and now you can get pants that are normally $80-$100+ for around $30. They have a few different cuts for the waist/hip and then have straight leg, boot cut, and wide leg styles. I like that they have misses, womens, and petites in both misses and womens.

Boot cut Jennifer Lopez jeans at Kohl's. $40 when on sale. I tried them as a last resort and liked them the due to higher in the waist and soft and comfy to begin with. Could you have been in the junior dept at Macys if all you found was skinny jeans?

I like Anthropologie. I bought Stevie jeans there that I LOVE! I did pay about $175 but they've been worth every penny.

I love my jeans and pants from White House Black Market. They run around $100 and hold up well,

My Guess jeans were about $125.

It sounds like I spend a lot on jeans and clothes... Initially, I do BUT I've had some jeans over 10 yrs. break that $175 divided by 10 yrs and that's just $17.50 per year!! I buy good quality classic clothing and wear it a long time, if course I take extra good care of it as well! My size/weight hadn't changed hardly at all over the last 18 yrs, so I get more wear out if the better quality clothes.

Good luck!

I basically only buy thrift store jeans anymore. Our local one usually has designer jeans for under $20.
I think I bought boot cut jeans at JCPenney a few years ago. My work pants are their Worthington brand mostly and they fit my big, round rear fine.

I go to thrift stores first, then Target if I don't find what I want at Goodwill, SVDP, etc.

I buy all my jeans on Ebay because I have expensive taste, but definitely won't spend $150-$200 on a pair.

I have been known to try jeans on at Nordstrom, etc. and then go purchase the exact pair on Ebay for 1/4 of the price :)

7 For All Mankind makes a nice wider leg jean that I love, it's called the Ginger. The Ginger comes in low, medium and high rise. I personally like the low rise, the rise is generally about 7".

I also like 7's Dojo jean, which is also a wider leg. If you are petite like I am (short, I'm 5'3"), then the Dojo Lexie's are awesome (that is the petite version).

Right now I'm also loving Current Elliott's boyfriend jeans because they are relaxed, comfortable and casual. A word of warning on this particular brand/style ... they do run larger as they are supposed to be a more loose fit.

Whenever buying jeans on Ebay, always ask the seller for the waist, rise, hips and inseam of each pair as they do vary from one pair to the next. If you have a fav pair at home already, measure those and then go from there.

I buy my jeans from american eagle. They are very comfy! They also stretch so they aren't super tight all day. I get the artist and the kick boot. Both of them are a boot cut. I hate skinny jeans on me and will never buy them. Their prices are pretty good too. I just bought a pair last week when they had their $30 and under jeans. I also had a $10 off coupon so I got them for only $20!! I now I have 5 pairs total :)

Chicos. A little stretch in the fabric and a wide variety of lengths. It's a good fit for my "after kids" body shape. The jeans cost a little more, 80-90$. But you can get on the email list for coupons and sales.

When Nordstroms has a sale, you can find cute jeans there. As well as J Crew, again it's when they are on sale. Additionally, Old Navy seems to have a wide selection from slightly flared to boot cut..

Also, I agree with the responder about Anthropologie. I paid $160 for some Jo's jeans to treat myself for my birthday...but they look HOT :-) and I can see myself wearing them for years. But typically I pay less than $70 because I seek sales.

I know it's impossible now. Hate those stupid skinny jeans. Love how the whole fashion industry is trying to double up on cases of anorexia with only allowing 1 style to be sold in all stores. I have started just shopping in the Athletic/sport sections and stores. Like REI, Athleta, lululemon, and dept store fitness sections. I also dig past what they are displaying and find that one pair of wide leg pants they are hiding in the back.

Macy's will have jeans that are not skinny you just have to hit the right section. Try the Suki fit in Silver Jeans. A more curvy boot cut jean with a mid rise.

Check consignment shops to see if they have anything left from before this darn skinny pant craze came back into style.

I always seem to come back to Levi's boot cut jeans.
For "nicer" I like the mid rise, dark wash Dockers with a wee bit of stretch.

If you have one near you... Kohl's. If you want to save, look at their sale racks. When we buy on sale at Kohl's, we often save twice as much as we spend.

You need tall jeans, right? If so, what I'd do is go to White House Black Market to try their jeans on for size. If you need them in the longer length (they do make them, but don't carry them in the stores), they can get them shipped to you (free shipping if you order in the store). I've been pretty happy with the cut of their jeans, and they're flattering. You can usually find some on clearance online, too.

Definitely Liz Claborne from JC Penny's. They do run long, though, which is one of the reasons I like them. You could also look at Target as they have a fit chart detailing where the waist sit and how the leg fits.
