I know I asked the same question when we were in the market for a new ped when our second son was born.
Our survey came up with te legendary Dr Paul Fleiss in Los feliz. As the only way to get into his busy office is with a newborn we thought we should give it a try.
His philosophies and celebrity and hip cool crowd that are part of his practice are great and his team is great. However we found the realities of at least an hour to almost over two hour waits at every appointment and the fact that we rarely actually saw the dr himself and rotated through a number of staff so we rarely saw the same person at our next visit, in addition to be a bit of a haul to get to his office ended up being quite stressful. When the sign that our insurance would no longer be billed directly and all visits would have to be paid out of pocket was the frosting on the cake for us.
So while I know many many families who adore the doctor and his practice, I would offer the caveat of taking into consideration who is the best pediatrician for you and your family. Which may be obvious, but I know I forgot to factor in a lot of other things having "the best" idea overshadow the best for us.
That being said, we have been quite delighted with our experince with dr laarni domontay in Burbank. She is family practice but I have found this to be helpful in building a strong relationship with her and her office because we all see her. And she is within walking distance from our house. So it eliminates a lot of stress.
Good luck!
