Best Party Games for Little Kids? Maybe Inside?

We are having our "end of the year" party for our Kindergarten girl scout troop in my backyard.

It's expected to be about 66 degrees with a 50% chance of rain!

So much for our "summer backyard party".

Now I'm scrambling to figure out what to do both inside AND out....depending on the weather.

What can I do next?

Go to the public library, and take out a book on old style party games from the 50s and 60s, long before there were technology-based games and electronics. Most kids don't know these, and they are so fun and interactive! Treasure hunts, "the memory game", potato races, musical chairs, and lots more are just there for the waiting. We did this with our kids and they always loved it!

ever thought of having the kiddos eat food of unusual things? My aunt had us eat spegetti of out cups, pots or pans, and eat it with spatchula or tongs...use your imgination on that one. Minute to Win it has some fun stuff on there show. Maybe you could google that show and see that they have.

Definitely do the Cookie Scrunch face game! And get some pictures!

Hot Potato, Limbo, musical chairs (or mats), Freeze tag, bean bag toss...

Six year olds will Limbo for HOURS!

I like the minute to win it idea- you could have prizes for how far they get.

I was gonna suggest a bounce house but with a 50% chance of rain, not sure that's a great idea!

Six year olds are pretty easy to entertain- you could have craft stations, or play twister outside or in.

Instead of pin the tail on the donkey you could do put the cookie in the girl scouts mouth?

We play this game for my kids birthday party - it is really fun. Its called passing the parcel. (Kind of like hot potato) Start with a small prize and wrap it in newspaper - on the paper write "You are the winner". Now wrap that up in another sheet of newspaper and put something to do "Like shake hands with your neighbors". Wrap up again and keep going in the same way - do maybe 10-12 sheets. The top sheet should not have anything written on it. The idea is - one adult is responsible for the music and the kids are sitting on the floor in a big circle- you start the music and the kids pass the parcel around. When the music stops (the adult shouldn't look while stopping the music - to be fair), the child that has the parcel opens up the top wrapper and reads what is on it - and has to do what is written. The game keeps going till the last wrapper is unwrapped and that person is the winner. To keep the other kids happy, I usually let them pick a piece of candy or hand out a bookmark or pencil or tattoo so they feel like they got something too. Ideas for things to do are :
Switch places with someone wearing blue or white.
Say red lorry, yellow lorry 6 times (tongue twister - this is hilarious)
Pretend you are playing a guitar
Rub your head and pat your tummy
Pick a partner and dance
Shake hands with your neighbor.
Anything that won't humiliate a child.

Do a google search for passing the parcel!

Enjoy.

The kids have always enjoyed this game!
