Best Diaper for Tummy-sleeper

My 7-month old daughter frequently sleeps on her tummy and her diapers always seems to leak through during naps. I am using Pampers Baby-Dry, size 3, which seems to fit fine. The diapers leak and the strange gel-like substance comes out as well after a long (2 1/2 hour) nap. I have even tried cotton balls in the front, but this does not seem to help too much. Have you found a brand that REALLY keeps the baby dry?

What can I do next?

I use pampers nighttime extra absorbent diapers (don't remember the exact name) on my 21 month old at night only. It really does hold a lot. Sometimes it's like we dipped her in a pool it's so big and heavy when she wakes up. We do still have the occasional leak, but it's a huge improvement. I've known other moms to double up on diapers, or use some sort of insert that you slip into the diaper to safeguard.

Pampers cruisers are 100% better than the baby dry. A little more pricey but we have no leaks ever! Also, try nighttime diapers if you still have leaking issues!

that used to happen with us too...We also use Pampers except I think it is Swadlers. I realized though her diapers were too big, even though they seemed like they fit just fine. Once she got a little bigger then there was no more leaking. My DD is 9 months old and I still have her in size 2. How much does you baby weigh? Does it match the weight reccomendations on the box? Maybe try a smaller diaper just to see what happens?

We use Huggies and fold the top over inside so there is less chance for leakage out the top by the belly. Works very well. Did that for DD and DS -- she was the tummy sleeper, he is just a boy :) We couldn't use Pampers -- both my babies got rashes from their dry-weave stuff -- I do as well from Always products, which have a similar type of lining. Good luck -- either that or maybe throw some plastic training pants over the diaper!

I found that Huggies worked the best for my daughter and Pampers the best for for my son. When they started leaking, I would move up a size. Good luck!

My son is a tummy sleeper and is currently wearing size 3. I also use Pampers Baby Dry. When he takes his 2 hour naps, I put him in a size 4 (Pampers or Huggies). This seems to have solved the leakage problem for me.

Good Luck,
M.

I hate pampers. They always seem to leak...=(
We use huggies and kirkland and those don't seem to leak near as much!
Good luck!

I have been pretty happy with Pampers Cruisers for both my tummy sleepers. Doesn't hurt to try a size up for nap/bed time.

I also make her bed in layers -- waterproof pad/sheet/waterproof pad/sheet so if there IS an incident, you can rip off the top layer and not have to re-make a bed in the middle of the night.

I used diaper doublers that I get online at www.diaperdoublers.net (or diapers.com). Basically they are a maxi pad, but for babies. They have cloth ones that you can wash and reuse, or they have disposables. I have used them for both of my sons. The disposable ones have a peel and sticky side so you can position them anywhere in the diaper. You can put them right into a regular diaper and they have kept my kids dry throughout the night. I have found this option much cheaper than buying Huggies overnights.
