I used the drop-ins too (still do) as well as the Vent Aire kind. My son was very gassy early on and then it just went away on its own.
Good luck!

I am using the Playtex Drop-in bottles but my six-week-old has a TON of gas. We switched to soy formula and use gas drops, nothing seems to help. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and what bottles if any seemed to help. Thanks!
I guess I should update this a little. I appreciate all the great advice. We already have been using Soy Formula (regular formula made her spit up) for a few weeks now. My breasts stopped producing after a few weeks (it happened with my son too). We also use drops at pretty much every feeding. We have been adding Karo syrup because she was very constipated when we switched formulas. She gets a LOT of hiccups, but never spits up. I really feel it's her bottles because it seems no matter how much I squeeze I can not get the bubbles out. My sister used the Vent Aires with my neice and she had gas problems, but she was also 7 weeks premature (my sister breastfed for 4 months). So it looks like I will try the Vent Aires or Dr. Browns. Thank you! I will let you know how it goes.

My son was extremely collicky up until 4 months old. After trying different formulas and gas drops, we finally bought the Dr. Browns bottles. They are awesome!
My son was the same way. I started out breastfeeding and found out he was lactose intollerant so had to switch to soy. We also found out he had reflux which is not readily diagnosed (we really had to hound the doc. and tell her something wasn't right!) so you may want to check into that. Carro syrup is another thing that may help. You put about a tsp. in every bottle (google it and you'll see it works!). Good luck! I know it's hard dealing with an uncomfortable baby!
We used Avent bottles with our little boy who had lots of gas, and put him on Nutramigen. The Avent bottles has built in anti-colic technology and work like a dream. Both are pretty expensive, but at three, six, and nine months we were able to switch him from Nutramigen to Gentle Ease to regular formula. AND he was much happier in life. Turned out he had reflux too, so you might want to get him on some meds for that.
Dr Browns bottles worked really well with my daughter. She was much happier when I started using them. She was very gassy also. You can buy them at Walmart and Shopko and I am not sure if you can get them at Target yet but I want to say that I have seen them there. Otherwise Babies R us
I used the Playtex Vent-Aire, it took care of the gas right away.
I was also told to use the Dr. Browns but could never find them when I was looking for them. Otherwise I would have tried them.
We had to switch to LactoFree which did help but didn't cure it.
Good Luck
I agree, Dr. Brown's worked for us. You can find them at Babies R Us, WalMart, Walgreens and I think Target.
Also, "Mylacon" is your friend. We used it and within second's our baby stopped crying. It breaks up the bubbles in the tummy and baby is much happier. It's Symthicone, "Mylacon" is just a name brand.
Good Luck!

My son had extremely bad gas as well. We tried all the formulas and discovered the Lactose free worked best (we still use that). We also use the Vent Air bottles and did use the drop in bottles and gas drops. We found using the Lacotse free formula to be the best solution.
Good luck!

Dr. Brown's bottles worked for my gassy baby. I had tried several different brands and finally someone told me about Dr. Brown's. They made a huge difference for me. I'm not sure if you can buy them at Target yet, but Baby's R Us and Baby Depot (at Burlington Coat Factory) sell them. I preferred the "fat" ones because they were easier to hand wash than the skinny bottle.
Good luck and hang in there!
Try Gripe water.(yes, that is what it is called) You can get it at any healthfood store or if your grocery store has a "natural" foods section. We struggled with gassy babies and I even bought the Dr Browns bottles (they seemed to work but my son decided to refuse them and my daughter wont take anything but an Avent) The gas drops were not working for us so we looked futher. I would try the Gripe water before I go out and buy all new bottles.
I like the Playtex Vent-Aire bottles they're easy to clean, and works great for gas.
I originally bought the Avent bottles they're suppose to be known for helping with gas and my daughter had a very very hard time sucking from their bottles til she was older like 6mos. They're great for older babies. Also very easy to clean.
We used the Playtex Ventair bottles & LOVED them. Never once had any gas issues. My sister does daycare and tries to get all her mom to go w/ the Ventair bottle because of how much she like them and how well they have worked out w/ gas issues.
Hi, D....
We ended up using Dr. Brown's bottles because we had troubles with gas for our baby. They were a great improvement! We also used the Enfamil GentleEase formula when we started introducing that--it was for babies with gas.
Blessings!

I just wanted to put in my $.02 for what it's worth. We used Dr. Brown's with my firstborn and while they worked well, cleaning the individual pieces day-in and day-out got really old.
Once my son was older and we didn't necessarily need the "special" Dr Brown bottles anymore, it was really tough to get him to switch to a different type of bottle (I'm guessing because Dr. Brown's are unique from other bottles and he could tell the difference). Eventually we were able to get him to accept Avent bottles, which were an absolute *dream* to wash after those Dr Brown bottles.
Now comes baby #2: once we were done nursing, I started her on Avent bottles immediately and never had a problem.
To make a long story short: Dr Brown's are good; Avent are better. I bought my Avent bottles on-line.
I to use the same bottles and have had some problems with gas. With my oldest it was an issue with his upper lip so until he had surgery and with my new baby we switched to Enfimil Gentlease. What I did with the bottles was after I mixed up the formula I would bleed out what air there was in there until the formula was up in the nipple. I also switched to the natural latch nipples.
My daughter had this same problem. We tried different bottles and soy formula but neither worked. I took her to the doctor and it turned out she had a stomach virus. We had to put her on the similac hypoallergenic formula for a couple of weeks. Her gas went away completely.
WE don't use bottles, only breastfeed, but some babies are just gassy. Thier little guts aren't sealed when they are born and formula is pretty hard to digest, so it makes them gassy. Plus drinking out of a bottle they tend to gulp air along with thier liquid and that turns right into gas.
Aside from using the gas drops, making sure you are using a slow flow nipple, and burping often, not really much you can do but wait a few more weeks and you'll see the gas will lessen a little.
Get some Mylacon or generic gas drops from Walgreen's, Target or your local pharmacy. The drops are completely safe to use as they are not systemic and have no side effects. You can use them with every bottle feeding.
Best wishes.
Evenflo Comfi they are wonderful! we had that same problem thent he dr told us to not switch formula it can mess with Alysons " our now 22 months old" stomache. i dont know how it works but they do they almost look like a regular bottle but they curve a bit at the end. Thats what we used towards the end. my sister in law gave me to try a evenflow AIR VENT they are a lil more $$ but they work omg do they work. i cant remember our daughter spitting up at all after 3 days of using this bottle its amazing!

With my youngest we used the Dr. Browns bottles...you can get them at walmart. They have a special tube inside that eliminates air in the bottle. They have a few pieces to them so they are kind of a pain...but they are worth it.
Good Luck!
My son had very bad gas and projectile vomiting I mean like 4 feet when he was born. I tried everything soy, nutramigen which is $25 per small can that lasts 3 days. switched bottles everything. But I found that it wasn't the bottle at all and the only thing that worked for him was Enfamil Gentlease formula. It is like carnation goodstart where it has broken down proteins so it's easier for them to digest but it also has 1/4 of the amount of lactose as normal formula. My best friends daughter is going through the same thing and she started the formula 2 weeks ago and her baby is a much happier baby. My first daughter was on good start but gentlease came out about 4 years ago I think and so my last 2 were on that. Give it a shot. It works wonder. I did the gas drops and everythign too...
