I tried one and it didn't really work -- it was uncomfortable and sweaty. I just wore tight spandex shorts and that seem to help me more. Good luck!

I have used one after most of my babies (I have seven) and I feel like it makes a big difference in retraining your middle. : )
I tried one of the ones that was specifically postpartum and hated it! Thankfully I was able to return it b/c it cost I think $40.
My favorite? The regular old shapewear from Walmart. Really. I have one that is a midsection shaper that has clasps down the front and another that is like bike shorts and goes all the way up my middle almost to my chest. I love them both! (and I think I paid about $10-15 is all!)

I researched these after my sons birth. They are actually not supposed to be good for you. They just hold your muscles in for you, instead of you holding them in and strengthening them back up.. which leads to weaker muscles and more problems in the future.

I bought the Medela one from Babies 'r us for about $20 and so far I am not liking it. Maybe because it is a little too small for me and it bunches up in back. I think the idea itself is great, though - binding a woman's belly after birth is a tradition going back hundreds, if not thousands of years in some cultures. I am getting a lot of support from maternity pants with a wide, firm band around the waist. It's all I can fit into right now, anyway.

I have used one for the last two out of three and I wish I'd had it with my first....I think I could have avoided some damage. I think genetics has a lot to do with whether you will have a little pooch left over or not, and how good in shape your abs are prior to pregnancy and birth. HOWEVER, it makes a huge difference in the support your abs get after, making it less likely to continue to damage them. Your insides are left with a big hole after your baby leaves your body and I found that it made a big defference just to have my insides supported when I was rolling over or getting up. It supports your back and reminds you to be careful not to strain your abs.
Essential Excercises for the Childbearing Year is an excellent (the photos are dated, but all the info is revised) book that gives you some simple things to do prior to and following birth to keep your abs in the best shape.
I don't think it matters whether you buy one that is specific postpartum (I got mine from One Step Ahead) or like the other gal you buy tight shapewear.
Good Luck

Don't know which brand, but the hospital gave my friend something that sounds like that after her 2nd C-section. She said it made a miraculous difference!
