Is she potty trained? If so, can you tell me a bit? How much are you asking for? Thank you!
We have a beagle that needs a new home. While my husband and I were seperated I got her because I wanted a dog that would bark but only when someone was coming to the door and I was very happy that was/is the only time she barks. However my husband and I are back together and he does not like her ( for personal reasons while we were seperated). We have Rosie whom we have had for 5 years and she is enough for him so I need a new home for Lizzy (Elizabeth Swann from Pirates I am a big fan) anyway--she has all the coloring of a full breed and she sniffs all the time like Beagles do--if anyone would like to give her a home I dont want to take her back to the Humane Society but its becoming a point of contention I really dont want to argue about anymore. I think she would be a good drug dog if anyone knows how to give a dog to the police--Beagles are known for their sense of smell.

Do you have her AKC papers and has she been "fixed"? You can contact thru the AKC website local beagle rescue organizations. My family breeds beagles so I'm familiar with the breed. You can also take an ad in the paper for free to good home etc. The ad might cost you a little but will help you find people with interest, esp if she's housebroken. If she has papers and is not altered or "fixed" let me know, I might be able to help you.
Good luck.

Elishea,
It's a shame that your husband can't learn to tolerate her. You need to make sure you didn't have a clause in the adoption contract with the Humane Society that says you have to bring her back if you couldn't keep her. If they don't (although I am sure they probably do) then you should contact a local Beagle rescue group. Good luck.

Most Humane Societies have a contract requiring you to return the dog to them if you decide you no longer want the dog. You need to determine that first as it is a legal contract put in place for reasons just like this. I am in rescue and the contracts state that the pet is to be a part of the family or returned to the rescue and these babies have been through enough........please take her back as it is in the best interests of Lizzy!
In my honest opinion, I would NOT put an ad in the paper "free to good home" or ad for Frisco Online or anything like this. Sometimes "free to good home" dogs are obtained through the paper and used for dogfighting bait or they end up in the hands of people who might not be such responsible dog owners. Anyway, sorry to be negative, but it's just not in the best interest of the dog to do that. You should contact the Humane Society because they probably would want the dog back, like other's on this site suggested. If not, a Beagle rescue or other All Breed Rescue organization would be your best bet for finding the dog the best home.
Too bad your husband can't get over it so you could keep the dog. I am sure your children would be happy for that outcome!
Best of Luck to you.

I'm not sure what city you live in but Frisco On Line has a great pet section and you can list for free there. It's friscoonline.com and go to Forums then Critter Corner.
Your husband sounds like he has issues! Call the Humane SOciety first. You signed a contract that if you couldn't keep him you would give the dog back to them. Its a legal document. And the Humane Society has MANY families who would love a beagel.
