Hi Moms... after spending 10 weeks as a single mother while my husband was away, I'm looking for a get-away myself. I was wondering if any of you knew of a place somewhere in FL (St. Petersburg, Destin, etc..) that might be available the 2nd week in April. I would like to just walk out to the beach, read books, take long walks, maybe even work out while enjoying the WARMTH of spring (instead of all this cold/snow!) If you know of a place that could be rented out (for less than $800-900/week)that had a view of the beach, is a nice condo/hotel, etc..) maybe even a real estate agent that might be able to help, even a website that has worked for you that I can do some more research on availability, that would be great. I've looked on some websites already including craigslist and ebay -- but haven't found anything yet. Any vacation packages are welcome too. Thanks so much in advance for all your help. You are always the best Mom's to get advise from.
Sounds fantastic! I don't know of any specific properties, but we just found a vacation rental house in California through "Vacation Rental By Owner," or www.vrbo.com.
hello...we have a time share condo at a private oceanfront property in Vero Beach, Florida. If your time is flexible, it is available May 3-10. It is about 200 feet from the ocean and the complex has a pool, hot tub, tennis court, grills, shuffleboard, etc. Vero Beach is a beautiful ocean town that is not overrun with tourists and has great shopping, dining, relaxing, parks and fresh produce/juice stands. The going rate is $125/night but we are willing to rent it for the whole week for $700. I have gone there every year since I was 2 years old and love the area. We can't go this year because we just had a baby :-) Let me know if you are flexible with the dates and interested.
I dont know about hotels or places to stay there only because I was staying with family somewhere eles and was only there for the day but there is a place called Cape Captiva near Ft Myers that is beatuiful. I fell in love with this place the second I stepped foot on the beach. The people are wonderful and so friendly,the beach is stunning and the sunsets are breath taking. Iv always said that if I ever get to live in Fl.that is where I would move to. Enjoy your vacation wherever you end up.

St. Augustine Florida is wonderful! I've been going there since i was a kid...quite, historic, ocean, peace, beautiful! We're actually going in 3 weeks!! check out www.oceanhouserentals.com! Right on the ocean and reasonably priced. between daytona and jacksonville. Been staying at this particular condo since age 10 or 11....great memories, great time!

My brother-in-law has a condo in Indian Shores, FL (south of ClearwaterSt. Petersburg- north of Tampa). It's a great location. It is right on the ocean and has a newly refinished pool area. It has two bedrooms and two full baths, fully set-up kitchen, etc. It was recently redone and has new TVs and internet access and cable. I don't know what it costs per week. A friend of mine has a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house that is really close to the beach. It also has its own pool and hot tub in the backyard.

Available for use in the house... TV with a VCR/DVD combo with lots of movies, games, pool toys, surf & boogie board, Weber grill, washer/dryer, free internet connection, and incoming phone calls. You can also try Redweek.com. I use them for condo rentals in Mexico but they have availability all over the world. They are timeshare properties. We just got a great deal for our girls trip coming up in May.

You might look at HomeAway.com. We are in the process of renting a house in Cabo in June through this site. It might prove to be a good starting point. I don't have any sort of review of it as we haven't stayed at the house yet.
