Hi ladies! I have a friend turning 40 in March and having her third baby in April. I would like to have a Couple's cookout 40th birthday bash/baby shower for her. I am looking for some creative and classy ways to blend the two. My shower was a couple's cookout and it was a lot of fun with the guys there too. We don't want to play games unless they are really cool games. I am just looking for some neat ideas and some cool decorating ideas, etc

Go for it and have fun! Your friend is lucky to have you giving her a shower and celebrating her birthday with so many friends. This is more fun than a traditional baby shower. I'd google ideas if I were you - I'll bet there are a lot of ideas online for a co-ed shower!

I really have a hard time with people throwing themselves showers. A friend of mine just invited me to a diaper sprinkle or some such thing for her 4th child. Showers are when "others' shower you with wisdom and gifts. I think it's tacky when you throw yourself a shower.

Maybe color combos that will be used for baby. Like pink(girl)/green(boy) and brown balloons, table cloths, napkins...etc. And have two different cakes one for baby and one for birthday. And they have a cool diaper game...you melt different candy bars in different diapers and they have to guess what it is...great baby shower plus over the hill (if your going in that direction).
