hi everyone...
i had my first artificial insemination and it turns out i'm pregnant w/ baby #2 now...about a month along.
now, we've planned this road trip to north carolina since forever and i was just wondering if it would affect my pregnancy.
i spoke to my doc and she said as long as i stay hydrated, i'd be fine.
anyone else travel this early in their pregnancy??
thanx in advance...=)

What can I do next?

I drove 700 miles roundtrip every weekend from 4 weeks to the day right before I delievered. =) The only thing my doc advised was that I get out and stretch my legs so I wouldn't develop blood clots in my legs. Keep in mind though that this was later in the pregnancy, and I was the driver.
Good Luck!

I'm not sure why it wouldn't be just fine. Perhaps you are associating "road trip" with all the driving around on bumpy roads new moms do at the END of their pregnancies when they are trying to get labor started? Totally different thing, hon. You'll be fine.
Take good care of yourself throughout your pregnancy, but there's nothing in and of itself about a road trip that would endanger your pregnancy. In fact, all the bumpy roads in the world won't start a labor at the end of pregnancy either, if the baby isn't ready to be born yet. ;)

I moved from Idaho to Texas when I was about 2 months... 3 days straight in the car. No problems... just had to stop and stretch out a lot. Take along easy snacks and a big jug of ice water. Also... take along some of the big ziplock baggies in case of morning sickness... blegh. (Figured that out 1/2 way through the first day... lol)

Yep, just make sure to stop every couploe hours also and stretch your legs and keep the blood flowing (during pregnancy there's an increased risk of blood clots) so other than that and staying hydrated, have a good trip! and congrats!

I was about 6 weeks and we did a two week trip all over Canada with several days of driving and a couple of long days. We stopped every few hours to stretch, move around, get something to eat etc. Congrats and if you go hope you have a safe trip!

I traveled to Viriginia when I was 7 weeks pregnant. Upon advice of my OB, I called around to various hospitals within one hour of my hotel to make sure they would perform a D&C if I miscarried (I was taking blood thinner and my OB was concerned that if I were miscarrying, I would bleed to death... lovely thought). I called 7 hospitals before I found one that performed D&Cs. Didn't think it would be that hard to find! Anyway... just make sure you locate a hospital in advance. Good luck and congratulations!

I had a y oung friend who miscarried on a long road trip. It was hard for her to get pregnant, very hard. I think perhaps she had a benign tumor near her pituary gland. I don't know more than that but she certainly blamed it on the road trip from Dallas to El Paso, TX.

Some woman have a looser cervex than others I think I heard. Anyway, I don't know what hydrated has to do with it but I'd get more doctor opinions. You can also try "Just Answers" on line asking for a gynecologist that specializes in high risk pregnancies. They might be what you need to feel about (or bad) about this road trip.

Just follow your doctor's orders and you'll be fine. Staying hydrated means having to stop to pee a lot but it will give you a few minutes to stretch your legs. Just be sure to warn your husband that you are going to have to stop to pee a lot. Men hate to stop to let the ladies pee :)

I drove back and forth every weekend from Los Angeles to San Francisco during my pregnancy. Stay hydrated, take breaks and move around, enjoy your trip - you'll be fine :)

I traveled all the time during both pregnancies (from the very start up until 36 weeks, when my doctor made me stay close to home!). The only possible drawback might be if you have morning sickness, the drive could be kind of miserable. =(

Congrats on your pregnancy, and have a fun vacation!

It will probably be better for you than staying home, since you will be sitting as opposed to running after your toddler.
No worries. I traveled all over the country for work with both my first and second babies both in the beginning and towards the end.
Good Luck and congrats.

I flew to England (8 hour flight) before I even knew i was pregnant, I found out about a few days after i got home. I had no complications at all. I think your Dr's advice is good, stay hydrated.
Don't worry, enjoy your trip :)

I don't know if artifical insemination requires any type of special precautions. However, with a normal pregnancy there is absolutely no reason why you can't do all the things you would usually do. What are your concerns?
