My husband and I have been happy with Chase.

I have been a Wells Fargo customer for 15 years, but have recently become unhappy with some of their policies. I need a new bank--online banking is a must. I don't actually use ATMs (or go to the branch) very often, but I do travel for work and lowest "non-system" ATM fees would be good. Who do you like? I live in Houston.

We bank at Amegy. It has all of the modern features with a home-town feel. They are doing well financially and did not have to take any money from the federal government.
Plus, my mother-in-law is one of their area managers. So, if you would like to speak with someone that could answer your questions, I could give you her phone number.
We've been very happy with Bank of America. There are lots of locations convenient to us and with automatic paycheck deposit, we don't have to pay any monthly fees. I don't use the on-line bill pay (I have most bills auto debited) but my mother-in-law does and she says it's a snap.
Best advise, go with a reputable name that is close to home and/or work so it is convenient. Most national chains have similar basic services, it's the policies and special services that may create a leaning for you.
I have been banking with JP Morgan Chase since it was Texas Commerce Bank. I have been very happy with them. I love the on-line bill pay and I can even send checks for loans or to my babysitter through their system (It doesn't have to be a major incorporation or retailer.) I also love that their new ATMs offer cash and check deposits w/ no deposit slip or envelope, you just slip a stack of bills or checks into the machine and it will process the deposit for you. You can even get an instant print out of the checks you deposit.
